What Is Cradle Cap?
Cradle cap is the common term for seborrheic dermatitis (seb-eh-REE-ik dur-muh-TYE-tis) of the scalp in infants.
Seborrheic dermatitis, also called seborrhea (seb-eh-REE-uh), can show up:
- on the forehead and face
- behind the ears
- in the diaper area, armpits, and other skin folds and creases
What Are the Signs & Symptoms of Cradle Cap (Seborrheic Dermatitis)?
Babies can develop seborrheic dermatitis when they're between 2 weeks and 12 months old. It usually starts with cradle cap. A baby with cradle cap will have slightly red scaly or crusty yellow patches on the scalp. It may also start on the face or diaper area and spread to other parts of the body.
Seborrhea looks:
- red and moist in skin creases and folds (like the neck and behind the ears)
- yellowish with greasy patches or crusts
- scaly or flaky
Seborrheic dermatitis might look uncomfortable or irritating to the skin. But it usually isn't itchy and doesn't seem to bother infants.
What Causes Cradle Cap (Seborrheic Dermatitis)?
The exact cause of cradle cap isn't known. It's likely due to a combination of things. Too much skin oil (sebum) in the oil glands and hair follicles and a type of yeast found on the skin called Malassezia may play roles in the development of seborrheic dermatitis.
How Is Cradle Cap (Seborrheic Dermatitis) Diagnosed?
Health care professionals can diagnose cradle cap and seborrheic dermatitis by the way the skin looks and where the rash is. Babies with seborrheic dermatitis are usually well and the condition should get better on its own or with treatment.
How Is Cradle Cap (Seborrheic Dermatitis) Treated?
Cradle cap and seborrheic dermatitis in infants usually clears up on its own in weeks or months. In the meantime, you may want to loosen and remove the scales on your baby's scalp:
- Wash your baby's hair once a day with mild, tear-free baby shampoo.
- Gently remove scales with a soft brush or toothbrush.
- If the scales don't loosen easily, apply a small amount of mineral oil or petroleum jelly to your baby's scalp. Let the oil to soak into the scales for a few minutes to several hours, if needed. Then use a soft brush or toothbrush to remove scales. Shampoo your baby's hair as usual.
If regular shampooing doesn't help, your doctor may recommend a mild steroid cream or antifungal shampoo.
For seborrhea on other parts of the body, your doctor may recommend a mild steroid or antifungal cream.
Do not use over-the-counter steroid or antifungal creams or anti-seborrhea shampoos without checking first with the doctor.
What Else Should I Know?
Sometimes seborrheic dermatitis in the diaper area or skin folds can get infected. Talk to your doctor if the rash gets worse or there are any signs of infection (the skin looks red, starts to drain fluid, or feels warm).
Cradle cap and seborrheic dermatitis in infants usually get better by 12 months of age. Seborrhea may come back around puberty as dandruff.

Cradle Cap
Is this your child's symptom?
- A scaly rash on the scalp that starts in newborns
Symptoms of Cradle Cap
- Yellow scales and crusts attached to the scalp
- Occurs in patches
- Scales can be greasy or dry
- Not itchy or painful
- Begins in the first 2 to 6 weeks of life
Cause of Cradle Cap
- Cradle cap is probably caused by hormones from the mother. These hormones cross the placenta before birth. The hormones cause the oil glands in the skin to become overactive. They then release more oil than normal.
- Dead skin cells normally fall off. The extra oil causes these cells to "stick" to the skin. These cells form yellow crusts and scales on the scalp.

Care Advice for Cradle Cap
- What You Should Know About Cradle Cap:
- Cradle cap is a common skin condition of newborns.
- It's caused by overactive oil glands in the scalp.
- It's harmless and will go away on its own. But it takes time.
- Here is some care advice that should help.
- Shampoo Daily:
- Wash the hair with an anti-dandruff shampoo (such as Head and Shoulders). Do this twice a week. No prescription is needed. Note: The daily use of anti-dandruff shampoo isn't approved until after 2 years old. But, using it twice a week is fine.
- On the other days, wash the hair with baby shampoo.
- Scalp Massage:
- While the hair is lathered, massage the scalp with a soft brush. You can also use a rough washcloth or your fingers for 5 minutes. Don't worry about hurting the soft spot.
- Baby Oil:
- If the scalp has thick crusts (scales), put some baby oil on the scalp. Do this for 15 minutes before shampooing to soften the crusts.
- Wash all the oil off, however, or it may worsen the cradle cap. (Reason: The oil blocks the oil glands on the baby's scalp.)
- Do not use olive oil. (Reason: may increase the growth of yeast)
- Cradle cap lotions for loosening up the scales are also available without a prescription. Apply the lotion 15 minutes before shampooing.
- Steroid Cream:
- If the rash on the scalp is red and irritated, use 1% hydrocortisone cream. An example is Cortaid. No prescription is needed.
- Put this on once a day.
- After 1 hour, wash it off with soap and water.
- Do this for 7 days or less.
- Expected Course:
- Cradle cap will eventually go away on its own between 6 and 12 months of age. Usually, it doesn't cause any symptoms (such as pain or itching).
- Therefore, treatment is optional. It is mainly done for cosmetic reasons.
- Shampoos, lotions and brushing will reduce the thickness of the scales. They will usually make them go away sooner.
- Return to Child Care:
- Cradle cap cannot be spread to others.
- Your child does not need to miss any child care.
- Call Your Doctor If:
- Gets worse with treatment
- Lasts over 12 months of age
- You think your child needs to be seen
And remember, contact your doctor if your child develops any of the 'Call Your Doctor' symptoms.

- Construction of facade cradles of the ZLP series
Facade cradles of the ZLP series are cargo hoists that are used when organizing work at heights. They are designed to move people - workers can be on the loading platform. It is suspended on cables attached to the console. The console is installed on the roof of the building, on the ceiling, span or any other sufficiently reliable base.
How does the ZLP front cradle work?
The loading platform of the facade cradle moves up or down when the winch fixed on it, consisting of an electric motor, a gearbox, is operating. To control the operation of the winch, an electric remote control is used. Each cradle has two winches (one per cable on each side). Additionally, the lift is equipped with safety equipment (safety devices, electromagnetic brakes, limit switches).
Electric control panel - panel containing the start button, manual switch, up and down buttons, and power indicator, emergency button. The workers in the cradle control its movement using this remote control.

Structural elements of the facade lift
The facade lift consists of several main elements: a winch, a console, a loading platform, cables, safety equipment.
Winch - a power unit that provides movement of the cradle. It consists of an electric motor and a gearbox. The winches are installed at the ends of the loading platform and are activated synchronously when it needs to be raised or lowered.
The cable is passed along the traction sheave (there is an automatic cable feed device). When the winch is operating, the force from the electric motor is transmitted by means of a gearbox to the traction sheave, which presses the cable. Additionally, the design of the device includes a two-stage deceleration system, an electromagnetic disc brake, and a centrifugal speed limiter. In the event of a power failure or power failure, the electromagnetic brake is automatically activated, reliably stopping the aerial platform. It can then be lowered manually using the release device. For manual descent, both winches must be unlocked at the same time to prevent the platform from tilting. If the descent is carried out manually, it is slowed down by the centrifugal speed limiter.

The supporting structure is a console. It consists of supports, beams, brackets, which are installed on the roof of the building, additionally loaded. Counterweights are fixed at the back of the console. Their weight is calculated in such a way as to ensure a stable position of the console, to prevent tipping even at the maximum load of the working platform. The front beam is displayed outside the roof. With the help of pulleys and rope clamps, a cable is passed along the entire structure, which is securely fastened and used to hang the cradle.
The load platform during the operation of the lift moves up and down along a fixed cable. It is assembled on the ground and consists of a floor, side rails, winch mounting frames. The cargo platform may consist of several sections. This allows you to change its length. In the company "Vertical Pro" the length of the cargo platform can be from 1 to 10 m. The platform is installed together with safety gear. These are devices that block the safety steel cable in case the platform tilts, if the working cable breaks. Additionally, buffer rollers are fixed on the platform from the side of the facade (needed so that the cradle fence does not damage the facade). Also, in order to ensure a constant tension of the working cables, counterweights are fixed on them. The facade lift is connected to the mains using a three-phase five-wire cable with grounding coming from the control panel.

Baby carriage. Types and device. Application and how to choose
Most families look forward to the appearance of a baby, and therefore I begin to prepare for this event in advance. Future parents try to think through everything to the smallest detail and make the child's life comfortable from the first days. They are looking closely at goods for children, and some of them purchase them long before the joyful event. One of the most important purchases is a baby stroller.
Manufacturers produce a huge variety of options. Among themselves, they differ in appearance, design characteristics, and materials of manufacture. It is important to choose exactly such a stroller that will be convenient for both the baby and the parents.
The modern baby carriage comes in several types. Some are only suitable for children of a certain age. Others may change as they grow up, but all of them can be grouped into several groups based on design features.
Carrycot
This is a large structure with large wheels. Its peculiarity is that the cradle, where the baby is located, is easily dismantled, and the frame is folded. This makes it easier to transport the stroller. If necessary, the child can be taken with you on a short trip, and the removable part of the stroller will serve as an excellent temporary bed for a young family member.
The advantages of the carrycot, in addition to ease of transportation, are:
- Large wheels for easy transport on rough roads.
- The weight, which can reach up to 18 kg, makes the stroller stable.
- Sufficiently large dimensions ensure the comfort and convenience of the baby while riding.
However, what is an advantage can in some cases turn into a disadvantage; large size and weight will make it difficult to move the structure to the street. Some specimens may not fit into a small-sized elevator.
Transformer
Such designs are simply indispensable for families that are not very wealthy, as they allow you not to spend money on buying a new vehicle as the baby grows up. The baby stroller can be used as a walking aid, car seat and even a bed for sleeping. Some designs have the ability to replace the wheels with skids, which makes it easier to move in the winter on snow.
The advantage of transformers is that almost all parts are movable. To ensure the comfort of the baby, you can change the angle of the backrest. In addition, you can change the position of the handle to carry the baby face or back to you. The disadvantage is that the height of the vehicle is small, and therefore it is not very convenient for tall parents to often lean towards the child.
Walking
This is the best option. They can be used for both three-year-olds and babies. The stroller folds easily, and therefore it is easy to transport it, for example, in a car. The backrest is adjustable for maximum comfort for the young rider.
Universal
These designs combine carrycot, stroller and car seat. They differ from transformers in that it is not the design itself that changes, but simply the necessary part is mounted on special chassis.
This stroller can be used anywhere, and you don't have to worry about where to leave it, just take the detachable part with you. The universal baby carriage differs in small weight and the compact sizes.
Three-wheeled
This vehicle for a child appeared relatively recently, but has already won the recognition of many parents. This is an even more versatile option than the stroller described above.
With a three-wheeler, it is convenient to walk on rough terrain or on a flat road. This stroller has a more advanced braking system, as it is equipped not only with a foot brake, but also with a hand brake. The disadvantage is that the dimensions of the transport are quite large, and therefore it is not very convenient to transport it alone.
Twins
This is a convenient and ergonomic option for families with twins. The functions of the stroller for twins are the same as the stroller, but due to the fact that there are two passengers in it, it has large dimensions and weight.
Important elements and functions
A pram is a fairly complex structure that consists of several elements - wheels, a handle, a luggage compartment, a seat or a cradle. All of them must be strong, reliable and safe in operation.
Wheels
They can be large or small, made of plastic or coated with rubber. The operating parameters also depend on these nuances.
Large wheels, usually with rubber tyres. They have good cross-country ability and have excellent depreciation qualities, and therefore vehicles with such wheels are conveniently transported on rough roads or in snow in winter.
Small wheels give the structure agility and good handling. They are most often made from plastic. A baby stroller with small wheels is suitable for walking on smooth asphalt roads in the warm season.
Seat
Its main characteristic is comfort, the seat should not be hard or too soft. For the correct positioning of the baby, it is supplied with a headrest. The footrest is also important, which should be adjusted to the length of the child's legs.
Carrycot
The main feature of this item is comfort. The larger the cradle, the more comfortable the baby is to lie down, but this reduces the ease of use of the stroller. The outer material of the cradle must be moisture resistant. The cradles are equipped with special capes for the legs and a mosquito net, which protect the baby from bad weather and insects.
Luggage Compartment
This item is not required, but it does make the vehicle easier to use. It can store toys, baby clothes, food and other things necessary for walks or long trips. The presence of a luggage compartment frees the hands of parents, so it is much more convenient to manage the stroller. The main requirements are compact dimensions and convenient location.
Handle
In most strollers, it is fixed, but there are copies with a flip. The latter allows you to change the direction of movement of the baby - back or face forward. When choosing a stroller for a child, pay attention to the height of the handle. Get up to the stroller and take it in your hands. The most important thing is ease of movement. The optimal height is at the level of the parent's belt. There are strollers with height-adjustable handles.
Other things to look out for
Important parameters are the weight and dimensions of transport for children. Small in size and weight, the folding design is suitable for those who spend a lot of time traveling. It will also be ideal for a couple living in a small apartment or for a single mom.
Prosperous couples can choose any copy, but don't forget that the mother takes care of the child. In houses equipped with elevators and ramps, the dimensions and weight of the stroller do not matter, because you do not have to carry it on your hands. But for those who live in old buildings, it is still better to purchase a small structure.
You should also pay attention to the possibility of folding. This makes it easy to transport and store. If you have a car with a small trunk or live in a small apartment, consider making the stroller foldable.
Shock absorbers affect the smoothness of the stroller. As a rule, they have the form of springs or hinges. Sometimes they make belt shock absorbers, but they are not so safe and often break.
The brake system can be made in the form of a tube, when pressed by the foot, two wheels are blocked. Sometimes they make pedals on each wheel. Which braking system to choose depends on your preferences. In addition, strollers with a hand brake have recently been produced.
Important elements are seat belts and the presence of a visor. The first will prevent the child from falling out while driving, and the visor will protect from precipitation and sunlight.
What is the perfect baby stroller
The choice depends only on your preferences and living conditions. Active people fit compact and lightweight specimens. Those who lead a sedentary lifestyle and prefer comfort can opt for more representative large structures.
Color scheme is a matter of taste. A bright baby carriage on a walk can cheer you up, however, too caustic a color will irritate your eyes.
