Hello and welcome! We’re so glad you decided to join us. We know your day is valuable and appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule to hang out with us.
So who are the faces behind The Masterpiece Mom? Let us introduce ourselves. We’re Amanda Bacon and Anne-Renee Gumley; good friends you could describe as MomOpposites. Our day-to-day lives are vastly different, but we share the same passion for Jesus and want to mother in a way that is pleasing to Him. You will probably hear us say it often, but God did not intend for us to be cookie-cutter versions of each other. We are all different; with different giftings and passions. Our families do and will look different. But our hearts beat toward the same goal of raising children that love Jesus and love people. We want to be moms who move beyond survival mode and into the unique role that was tailor-made just for us by the loving hands of the Father.
We are thrilled to support each other in these goals and we encourage you, our fellow masterpiece moms and friends, to do the same. Because we need each other. We weren’t meant to walk this road alone, so we hope you’ll join The Masterpiece Mom community as we walk it together.
Before we get much further, we’ll tell you a little more about ourselves so you can familiarize yourself with the women behind the words.
One half of the Masterpiece Mom duo is Amanda Bacon. Amanda has been married for 16 years to Jeremy, and has eight kids. She is a stay-at-home, busy homeschool mom. She loves fresh cut flowers, Downton Abbey, and encouraging women in the areas of faith and family.
The other half of the duo is Anne-Renee Gumley. Anne-Renee has been married to Andrew for 12 years, and has two kiddos. She’s a working mom, helping her husband at their family business when their children are at school. She loves fall, scarves, and all things Parisian.

What is The Masterpiece Mom all about? Well the first time we started mulling around this idea of The Masterpiece Mom, we were chatting about the verse in Ephesians Chapter 2 that talks about how “We are His masterpiece” (Ephesians 2:10). It started the conversation rolling about what our culture says a mom should look like and who she should be, and on the flip side, who God says we are as His children (holy, beloved, equipped, chosen — and the list goes on). We could see moms all around us feeling pressured to buy the lie that motherhood had to look a certain way, instead of resting in God’s perfect plan for them.
So we decided to launch a much needed website just for moms. Something to remind us that we are a masterpiece, made in His image. And what could be better than a Gallery of HOPE filled with heartfelt blog posts, encouraging quotes, and memorable podcasts?! Something to infuse hope into all of us.
In addition to our regular blog posts, we’re also producing podcasts so you can audibly hear our hearts (and laughter). We’re hoping it will be just like we are sitting right there with you, steaming cups of coffee in hand (or an iced latte — whatever your drink of choice), laughing, crying, cheering each another on through this tremendous and wonderful task of motherhood. It should be a lot of fun!
Now if you’re not a mom, we welcome you too. Not everything we’ll be talking about will be Mom-ish, but that is the season we’re in right now. So no matter who you are, or what stage of life you’re in, we invite you to come along for the ride.
If you’d like for the podcasts and blog posts to be delivered directly to your Inbox, subscribe to our email mailing list. Just enter your email address on the sidebar, and you can be the first to know what’s going on at The Masterpiece Mom.
Also, we’d love to have you join us on Facebook at The Masterpiece Mom where we will be posting bits and pieces of hope for your day. Like little drips of caffeine for the soul.
We will also be asking for feedback from time to time as we organically develop our blog and podcast ministry. Please let us know if you have certain topics you’d like to see represented in this space, or ways we can better encourage moms, every day, everywhere. Email us anytime at [email protected]
Thank you for your time. We hope we see you here often at The Masterpiece Mom.
Until next time…
Have a great day friends!
Sincerely,
Amanda & Anne-Renee
