British Guardianship Service Fees | British Guardianship & Boarding School Expert
British Guardianship Fees for Boarding School Students
This fee includes all the services of British Guardianship Head Office as listed in our prospectus.
Administration / Registration Fee (Non-Refundable): £150
Per student one time only.
Disbursements deposit: £500 / per term
We estimate that this is sufficient to cover further expenses and disbursements as listed below. If it is not sufficient then we will kindly ask you to top up. If an excess amount is left at the end of the program it will be refunded to you. A statement of account can be sent to you by return at any point during the year. We do not undertake large, out of the ordinary expenses such as purchasing flights or giving your child pocket money without consulting you first. With British Guardianship.com there are no hidden extras.
Standard items paid for out of the disbursements deposit are listed below:
Host family accommodation: £45-£55 per night:
As a part of our guardianship services, we provide a host family for holidays and other times when students have to vacate their room at school. Students under the 18years of age are obliged to stay with host families, educational guardians or parents when they are on school holidays and away from their boarding schools. They are not allowed to stay in hotels. However, with a written permission from the parents they are allowed to stay with friends or other family members in the UK.
Travel arrangements by the British Guardianship:
British Guardianship can arrange transportation to and from airports with one of its partner trustable DBS checked drivers. These drivers have been checked by us and are known to us. They abide by rules of the Guardianship Programme which assures safety and reliability for our students. These costs vary according to distance. A quotation can be provided to you on request for any journey.
Travel with host-families:
There are times which the host family collects students from school and takes them back again at the end of their stay. For this, we pay them a mileage allowance. The costs involved with this are included in student’s termly expense statement. Host families do not do airport or long haul transfers.
Extra visits to see your child - £125. 00
Host family/Guardian meetings - £50 per visit plus travel expenses:
Sometimes parents want to visit host families or to meet with their child's Guardian. We encourage this but would always ask a Guardian to attend host family meetings. For this we need to cover their travelling expenses and pay them a fee.

Why do I need a guardian?
Image alt debug:Lana Foster with a student
One of the requirements of most boarding schools in the UK is that a foreign student has a guardian - a responsible adult living in the country and ready to speak on behalf of the parents in any emergency. Families who do not have close friends in the UK who can fill this role can use UK guardianship agencies such as Bright World to provide a guardian for the child. This not only meets the requirements of boarding schools and the UK Immigration and Visa Service (UKVI), but also guarantees the safety of unaccompanied international students outside the school.
How can Bright World help you and your child?
Image alt debug:The Bright World Guardianships Team
The Bright World guardian will ensure that all of the child's needs are met. He guarantees the peace of mind of his parents and their confidence that there is always a person ready to help him. Our guardianship program offers a full package of services to help a student from the first day of their stay in the UK and throughout the entire period of study.
Reliable service from an experienced team of professionals
Since its founding in 2000, Bright World has been providing guardianship services for international students in the UK. All of our staff are trained in child protection and customer service to provide parents with the best possible support and mentorship for their child studying in the UK.

At least two annual school visits by a Bright World employee who will complete a detailed report on the child's progress and well-being.
Assistance with travel and accommodation for parents during visits.
Constant daily communication between school, student and parents.
Provision of a beautiful, hand-picked host family, carefully selected by the Bright World team.
Reliable and quality accommodation with a host family
Image alt debug:Host Family
From time to time students have to leave school unexpectedly; their flight may be cancelled, or they may arrive at the site while the school is still closed. Schools are also usually closed for "long weekends" (so-called "exeat weekends") and short breaks during the trimester. In some situations, children are asked to leave school for several nights. If you are unable to purchase a ticket on the stated date of arrival or departure, the school may be closed and your child will need a host family. Bright World offers safe and secure host family accommodation during these scheduled and unscheduled events.
Online Host Family Matching Program to help you choose
Bright World understands that most of you want to be involved in finding a host family for your child. That is why we provide parents and students with access to our online database of host families.
Browse our extensive database of host families who live close to the school and fit your needs. Use the selection program and choose the perfect option for you. We will notify you of the availability of the families you have selected.
We will ensure the protection of your child
Image alt debug:Bright World Buddy with a Student
Since 2006, Bright World has been accredited by AEGIS, the Association of International Student Education and Care Organizations. In 2013, we also received the bronze status of a member of the Child Safe organization and today we bear the title of its reliable partner. AEGIS re-inspects childcare organizations every four years and we are very pleased with the results of the last inspection carried out in 2017.
"Bright World" - is a highly effective guardianship organization that delivers quality service to the large number of students they are responsible for. The safety and well-being of children is the core purpose of their work. Their system allows to ensure the safety of children, and they carefully take care of their charges: the child undergoes medical checks and his place of residence is properly equipped. The level of Bright World's engagement with schools and the quality of the selected host families are important advantages noted by the assistant inspector.
Bright World is a true professional and the lead inspector strongly recommends re-accreditation for this company. ” – lead inspector, AEGIS organizations

Cultural and entertainment events during short breaks and Easter holidays
Image alt debug:Cambridge university sightseeing
Not all students want to live with a host family: many of them want to have fun with their friends.
In collaboration with various education and leisure experts, Bright World has developed a range of unique programs for students during the break and Easter holidays. One of our most popular programs, fully adapted to international boarding school students, was created in conjunction with Cambridge Melchior College.
Upon prior request, we can organize individual lessons with teachers. If a student wishes to take additional classes in some subjects, then at the time of ordering, this request must be indicated.
Online portal for communication, receiving reports and notifications
Image alt debug:Blink for parents
Our clients (parents and educational companies) have access to Blink, an online portal for parents, where they can view reports received throughout the child's education, view visit notifications and parent news assemblies. After enrolling in the Bright World Guardianship program, you will automatically receive your Blink login details. This is our online parenting portal. There you will find information about living and studying in the UK and will be able to learn about the progress of the child throughout the school year. The program also provides access to a database of host families: you can explore the proposed family options and choose the one you like.

Guardianship of International Students - guardian and guardian for children studying in England, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland
Most boarding schools in the UK require parents of international students to appoint a guardian in the UK. Some parents living abroad have friends or relatives in the UK who are happy to take on this responsibility, others have no one to help them. There are many tutoring companies that provide students with a safe and caring environment during their stay in the UK. It is helpful to appoint a guardian who is close to the school the child is going to attend. The guardian assumes legal responsibility for the child and provides the child with accommodation during school holidays or periods of illness. In addition to this:
- They should be the 24/7 emergency contact.
- They must be available to accommodate students during school holidays if required.
- Liaise with the school on pastoral matters and maintain regular contact with parents
- We organize transport from the airport and, if necessary, help with obtaining a visa.
- Manage the student's personal allowance and arrange for the payment of any additional school expenses

- Decide if you want your child to attend a school in your area as a day student or a school further away as a boarding school. About 85% of children study in the daytime department. Most boarding schools also have day places so children can transfer to a boarding school later if they wish.
More and more schools are offering weekly boarding when students come home on weekends.
Co-ed or same sex?
Another important decision is whether you want your child to attend an all-male or co-educational school.
Admission Rules
The school year starts in September, but it is advisable to start searching at least a year in advance, as the place can be filled up to six months in advance. Most schools have open days in October. Consider when to introduce your child to school. Most preparatory schools do not accept students in their final year. Senior schools do not aim to accept students halfway through a two-year course, i.e. Year 11 (GCSE) or Year 13 (Level A).
Schools usually interview prospective students and request a report from your child's school. Those children they consider will have to take an entrance exam to test their literacy and numeracy levels. Older children will be subjected to a broader examination, as well as languages and science.
School Comparison
Ask for a copy of the school brochure. Once you have identified the school or schools you are interested in, you should contact them for a prospectus (you can do this by email) and/or visit their website.
Visit the schools you are planning. Most schools have open days for prospective parents, but try to make an appointment on a regular business day as well and talk to the principal or senior staff member.
OTHER FACTORS Class sizes
- Schools vary: most prep schools will have 15 to 20 classes, but some high school day schools may have up to 30.
League Tables
is of course an important factor, but one of many when choosing the right school for your child.
Curriculum
- Is it broad and balanced?
Exams
- Exam performance reflects the school's academic policy and the high school may not meet your child's needs.
Admission
- Many junior schools accept students on a first come, first served basis so early application is recommended. Most high schools have entrance tests.
Discipline
Is the discipline more strict or more relaxed than you expected? Persistently choose one in which the child feels comfortable and motivated.
Location
- good air, road and rail links?
Amenities
- choose the schools that best suit your child's interests. those. sports, music, drama, art.
Recommendation
- what is good for one child is not necessarily good for the next. A good recommendation from friends or family is always helpful, but be aware that schools change over time.
Thinking about taking a year off but don't know where to start? A well-planned vacation year is a great way to impress potential employers. Every year over 200,000 young people in the UK take a holiday.
A well-designed break in a year can include several elements - travel, work, leisure, volunteering. Careful planning is the best way to avoid going to university or running into debt. If you choose to take a year off before university, you will gain more independence—personal, financial, maybe both—and be better prepared for university life. It doesn't matter that you'll be a year older than many of the other students - you'll probably do better with the transition to university.
If you decide to travel with a company that is on a break for a year, do your due diligence before doing so. Find out how long they have been in business and how many people have been taken abroad in the past. It's a good idea to talk to past travelers who have used the company to learn about their experiences.
