Your Declaration of Intent
Once you’ve decided to officially begin the process of homeschooling your child in Georgia, the first thing you’ll want to do is to file your declaration of intent with the Georgia Department of Education. The DOE recommends submitting your homeschool declaration of intent electronically, but it can also be submitted by fax, mail, or email. The declaration should include the names and ages of the students, the address where the program is located, and the dates of the school year.
This declaration should continue to be submitted annually for each year that you sustain your homeschool. You will want to be sure to print a copy of your submitted form, as well, because this is the only legal form you have of proof of homeschooling in the state. It is the also the form you will use for obtaining drivers permits/licenses, work permits, and any other situations that require proof of homeschooling in Georgia.
NOTE: If your child is currently enrolled in a public school in Georgia, it’s a good idea to formally withdraw him/her following the submission of your declaration of intent to avoid any truancy complications that could arise.
Homeschool Record-Keeping in Georgia
The declaration of intent is the only form that you are legally required to submit to the state, but that does not mean that it is the only item you should track in your homeschooling — far from it! You will discover that any future transitions in educational status such as moving back to school after homeschooling, applying for college, or enlisting in the military will all go more smoothly if you have kept comprehensive records of your homeschool activities.
Some of the things you may want to keep in a homeschool portfolio include:
- The results of any standardized tests your homeschooler takes while homeschooling
- An overview of the curriculum you’ve used as well as samples of assignments completed by your student, quizzes or tests, and written work, something Time4Learning makes very easy
- A general progress report for each homeschooler for the current homeschool year
For high school homeschoolers, a detailed transcript
Georgia Homeschool Graduation Requirements
As your homeschooler progresses, high school graduation will eventually be on your radar. You likely have many questions about how this works for home education. The simple answer is that homeschool law gives parents the authority to decide their own requirements for graduation, and even administer their own homeschool diploma.
While this may feel overwhelming, the key is to simply focus on your student’s future goals (college? military? workforce?) and plan your student’s coursework with those in mind. The chart below is a good starting point. It lets you compare the Georgia public school graduation protocols with those of a homeschooler. This will highlight the parallels and contrasts between the two approaches.
Public/Private School | Homeschool | |
---|---|---|
Georgia diploma requirements | Students must have a minimum of 23 completed credits to graduate in Georgia and receive a diploma. | Parents determine when their student has fulfilled graduation requirements and can issue their own homeschool diploma; students of private/online schools may receive diplomas from those institutions. |
Georgia high school testing requirements | There are no graduation testing requirements for the state of Georgia. | Homeschool students are also not subject to testing requirements for graduation. |
Georgia high school transcripts | GA public school transcripts include identifying information, standardized test scores, attendance information, credit totals and a complete credit history by course including course titles, grades received each semester, and cumulative grade average for each. | Homeschool parents may create their own student transcripts, and may include any information they deem pertinent to colleges, military, and/or future workplace organizations. |
Georgia high school course credits | In order to graduate, GA high schoolers must have 4 English credits, 4 mathematics credits (which must include Algebra), 3 science credits, 4social studies credits, 1 health/personal fitness credit, 3 credits in CTAE and/or Modern Language/Latin and/or Fine Arts, and 4 elective credits. | Parents determine when their student has fulfilled graduation requirements; for the purpose of creating transcripts, some homeschool parents do assign credits to individual courses. |
GED eligibility | Students who are at least 16 years old and have not earned a high school diploma from an accredited high school and are not currently enrolled in a public high school are eligible to apply to take the General Education Diploma test. | The same requirements for eligibility apply to homeschoolers as to public school students. |
Enrolling in Public School after Homeschooling
Although homeschooling is a wonderful option for families, there are many reasons why students may need to return to school at some point after a period of homeschooling. Sometimes, a change in family situation or finances disrupts your home education plans. Other times, parents or students simply discover that homeschooling isn’t a good fit for them. Occasionally, families make the decision to return to school for a specific purpose such as participating in high school team sports or because a specific college they want to attend requires an accredited diploma.
If you are wondering how to enroll a homeschooled child in public school, Georgia has no specific legal requirements about it. Each school district, however, will have different ways of assessing your child for grade and subject placement. You will want to touch base with your local school district to find out how they validate the instruction you’ve completed while homeschooling. This local district validation will also include how they handle the transferring of any high school credits completed while homeschooling.

How to enroll a child in a Georgian kindergarten
Maria Pakhomova
moved to Batumi with her family
Author profile
Two months ago, my husband and my six-year-old daughter and I moved from Russia to Georgia.
Finding a kindergarten was one of the first problems that had to be quickly solved at the new location. Over the course of a week, we looked at five kindergartens, talked with a dozen parents and teachers, did not find the ideal option, but picked up many acceptable ones.
I’ll tell you what we liked about the Georgian approach to preschool education and what disadvantages we found, how many Russian-speaking kindergartens are in Batumi and how much their services cost.

Why we chose Georgia
Before moving to Batumi, we lived in a private house in the south of Russia. We had 15 acres of land, a fireplace and hydrangeas, and quite clear ideas about the future life. But in February 2022, we thought about moving. Finally ripe in autumn.
In October, our daughter Polina turned six years old. At home in Russia, she could only go to school in a year. Therefore, it seemed that everything was fine: she is a preschooler and we will not have to pull her out of the educational process in the middle of the year because of the move. In the meantime, we planned to find a private garden in a new location.
We did not have visas, so there were few options among which we had to choose a country for relocation. Some, for example, Armenia, where they had to visit, were weeded out on the principle of “just don’t like it.” Then they began to think that it would be good to use their car to move. It could fit all our luggage: computers, children's books and toys, clothes and shoes for different seasons. Therefore, countries that would have had to fly by plane, such as Serbia, have disappeared. The prospect of a long road to Kazakhstan or Kyrgyzstan did not please, we considered directions closer.

How to profitably rent an apartment in Turkey
As a result, the choice was between Turkey and Georgia. At first, we were more inclined towards Turkey: we used to fly there on vacation and were fascinated by the benevolence of the locals and their attitude towards children. And it's beautiful there.
We are interested in Eskisehir, a city between Istanbul and Ankara. It is considered the safest in the country, it looks very well-groomed and convenient for families with children: there are many parks and recreations. In addition, there are few foreigners in Eskisehir, there is no sea, so housing prices have not grown as much as in resort cities. Judging by the ads that we studied in October-November, an unfurnished apartment 1 + 1 - as the combination of a bedroom and a living room is called in Turkey - could be rented for 12,000-15,000 R per month. In our hometown, for this money, we rented a one-room apartment 10 years ago.
But this option ceased to seem tempting when it turned out that the daughter's age was not the most suitable for the Turkish education system. Children go to school there from the age of five and a half. Without knowing the language, one cannot get into a Turkish school, and there were no schools for Russian-speaking children in Eskisehir.

Online translator and prayer before meals: how we got our son into a kindergarten in Istanbul
My daughter might not have been accepted to kindergarten because of her age. It turned out that even private kindergartens refuse to accept six-year-olds. We studied the information on the Internet, talked to a Russian-speaking Turkish woman from Eskisehir and phoned the Anglo-Turkish private garden to clarify whether this is really the case. There is no hope left.
Then we turned to plan B - Batumi. Here are the benefits we found there.
Availability of kindergartens. Although local children go to school from the age of six, there are many private Russian-speaking kindergartens in large Georgian cities, and they are ready to accept a child of preschool age by Russian standards. This can be found out by phone or in kindergarten social networks. Often gardens for Russian-speakers in Georgia are opened by immigrants themselves: it is easy for foreigners to set up a business here.
Simple migration rules. No fuss with obtaining a residence permit, medical insurance, phone registration and other delays that would have been waiting for us in Turkey.

Rules for entry into Georgia for Russians in 2023
No language barrier. We have been to Georgia before and had no problems with communication: there are many Russians who arrived there, and most of the locals speak or understand Russian.
Sea. When the question arose of choosing a city in Georgia, Tbilisi was dismissed because of housing prices, and in the provincial Kutaisi they were afraid to get bored. Batumi appeared on the horizon, where at that time two of my colleagues with their families had already moved - they were very pleased. They noted that here you don’t feel at all like in another country, that the locals are very friendly and loyal to the Russian-speaking population, and that it turns out that it’s so easy to arrange a life for yourself by the sea.
At the end of November, we loaded our suitcases into the car and two days later we were already there.
My husband and I don't really need the sea, but my daughter loves to walk on the beach and is waiting for the summer to swimWhat kind of kindergartens are there in Georgia
Kindergartens in Georgia are public and private.
State gardens. You can get into them only with a residence permit and one by one. Children are accepted from the age of three, and it is believed that they speak Georgian there. We did not check, but we heard that mixed groups are often formed in such kindergartens, in which there are children from different countries. Usually educators understand and speak Russian, so the child is unlikely to be difficult there.
So what? 21.12.22
How to get a residence permit in Georgia in 2023
But we did not plan to apply for a residence permit, so we needed a private kindergarten.
Private gardens accept both locals and foreigners easily and quickly. Many of them have groups for kids up to three years old. It remains to choose whether it will be a Georgian kindergarten with Russian-speaking groups, a kindergarten with mixed groups - they are attended by Georgians, Russians, and children from other countries - or a completely Russian-speaking kindergarten.
In Batumi, prices for private gardens start from 250 GEL (7078 R) per month. There are many gardens in the middle price segment - 400—700 GEL (11,324—19,817 R). Several gardens ask for 900 GEL (25,479 R) for services. And the most expensive one we learned about is a Montessori garden: a visit costs 1000 GEL (28,310 R) per month, another 250 GEL (7078 R) must be paid as an annual fee.
You often have to pay extra for a theater studio, chess, modeling, drawing. So, one of the Batumi gardens conducts chess classes for 150 GEL (4247 R) per month, and art lessons for 230 GEL (6511 R).

How Montessori gardens for children are arranged
How Georgian gardens differ from Russian ones
Compactness. Private gardens in Batumi are often equipped in multi-storey residential buildings. They can occupy one or several apartments, sometimes an entire floor or two. But one way or another, the conditions are rather cramped: there may not be the usual recreational areas, assembly and sports halls.
Walking yard. Due to dense buildings in the center of Batumi, not all gardens here can boast of spacious places for walking. Even if the kindergarten operates in a separate building, most likely there will not be a full-fledged playground with pavilions and sandboxes. This is usually a tiny patio with miniature playground equipment. But here they often walk with children in the city park on the shore of the lake or on the promenade by the sea.
Equipment. It may be different in the younger groups, but in the preparatory groups there is a meager set of toys. On the street - the same thing: a pair of plastic slides and a swing.
Daytime sleep. Older children in Georgian kindergartens are not obliged to sleep at lunchtime, but they can if they are used to it. In some kindergartens, you can choose whether to put the child in a sleeping or non-sleeping group. And where there are no sleeping groups, children who need daytime sleep can be put to rest in the room with the kids. We liked it: Polina, for example, hasn’t slept during the day since she was three years old, so in the Russian garden she just had to lie down during quiet hours.
Hygiene and sanitation. Of the five gardens we visited, I would give only one five for cleanliness. Somewhere I wanted to go for a run with a mop, and somewhere I wanted to put extra things on the shelves or paint something. But here it should be noted that I myself am a pedant by nature, and in Georgia they are less fanatical about order. That is, we are a little picky, they are slightly relaxed - hence the not the highest ratings.
Hygiene is observed every other time. We read about this many times on the Internet and personally heard from two mothers whose children are placed in Batumi gardens. It is not customary here to constantly remind children to wash their hands before eating or after a walk. If you want your child to do this, talk to him yourself.
Many kindergartens are accepted immediately upon payment of the contract, where parents enter the birth certificate data and their passport. No other documents are required, including medical certificates. On the one hand, it's easier: pay and go. On the other hand, it's stressful. Few people think about the health status of children here.

Batumi: what you need to know before your trip
During the pandemic, a rule appeared that is still in effect in many kindergartens: when parents pick up the child from the kindergarten, they do not go inside - the children are taken to them by caregiversHow we chose a garden
There are many private gardens in Batumi: I counted almost forty in the telegram channel "Sadiki Batumi". This is an aggregator, and information about some places could be outdated, but in order to understand the order of prices and find contacts, it will do.
We spent our first week in the city looking for a suitable garden. It must be admitted that we did not have a plan on how we would do this. Ready-made life hacks were not found. I had to improvise: we were guided by the budget, feedback from parents and personal feelings. And of course, they consulted with Polina.
Price. At home in Russia, our daughter's education cost us 10,000 R per month, including fees for the state garden, preschool, and a theater studio. Therefore, in Batumi, they expected to spend 10,000-15,000 R on a garden, realizing that our family budget could easily handle it.
Teachers. Who do we entrust the child to is the most important question for us. Polya grows open and sociable, easily finds a common language with everyone, and it seems to us that this is also because she has always been surrounded by caring, kind, sincere teachers. We carefully choose a teacher and, if this is our person, turn a blind eye to some shortcomings, for example, in nutrition or cleanliness. The same was done in Georgia.
/list/kindergarten-abroad/
How to arrange a child in a kindergarten abroad and how much it costs: 7 stories
State of the fund. It is problematic to assess the condition of the garden and make some kind of impression from photographs on the Internet. In social networks of gardens, you are unlikely to be shown a poorly washed floor. We decided that we would definitely come to each garden that interested us together with Polina in order to see everything as it is and make a decision together.
Garden tours for parents and children are common in Georgia. It's comfortable. You call the kindergarten and make an appointment. We didn't have any language problems anywhere. Even in the Georgian gardens, everyone spoke Russian fluently with us.
Parent feedback. What educators say is not always true. We understood this when in one of the gardens we were told about daily walks with children, and a mother from Belarus, who picked up her child and met us by chance, admitted: in good weather, the children went outside only once in a week. Be sure to talk to those who already go to the garden. Usually people honestly name the pros and cons.
Location. In general, proximity to home was unimportant for us. The city is quite compact, we have a car, and if we really wanted to, we could take our daughter at least to the other end of Batumi.
Contrary to our fears, there were enough places in Batumi gardens. Only in one of all where we called, we were told that the preparatory group was fully staffed. It was the Taaty garden, and we didn't go there.
Outwardly, "Taati" is impressive, and photos with him often open materials in the media about gardens in Batumi. Source: social networks of the garden "Taati" inside also seems pretty, but it was not possible to evaluate it live. Source: garden social networksWhich gardens we saw
"Tsisartkela". Cost - 400 GEL (11 324 R) per month, this is one of the most budgetary gardens where we have been.
This is a Georgian private kindergarten with Russian groups. It is located in the city center, on Gorgiladze street. We found the contacts of the garden on the day of arrival, and from there they quickly called us back, so we looked at it first.
The garden turned out to be quite neat inside. There is a nice decoration at the entrance, national motifs were used in the interior decor.
Before arriving at the place, we leafed through the photos of the garden on the Internet. In general, everything suited us. Only one group had overly bright green walls that hurt their eyes. And so they tell us that they will show Polina's group, and lead us into this green room. It's not meant to be.
But in general, the children in the group were cheerful, they waved to Paul and said that they were waiting for her. The Georgian co-workers also seemed friendly. Of the minuses - modest floor space and the almost complete absence of toys.
Then we looked into the dining room. Preschoolers come to the common dining room in groups in turn. Somewhere here, apparently, they wash the dishes - I remember the characteristic smell of cleaning products.
The promenade frankly upset me: a damp nook with an area of a couple of dozen squares. Later we found out that this is a problem of many local gardens.
Behind the colored fence is that very tiny walking area For children, everything is often made bright, but I want to muffle it a little. Source: garden social networksBatumi Interschool. Cost - 600 GEL (16,986 R) per month.
This garden was recommended to us by a Muscovite whom we met at the playground. Vika and her family recently arrived in Batumi from Turkey and said that they could easily get used to it here: rent suitable housing and enroll their son in a kindergarten. According to her, the child likes it here and he stopped arguing because of the need to go to the garden.
Interschool is located in two buildings a couple of blocks apart. Our age group was accommodated in a three-story mansion that used to be a hotel. The new tenants have not even removed the sign at the entrance yet, they chose the reception desk with an aquarium as the workplace of the administrator.
At the entrance we were met by the manager Vladimir - he told us what the children do during the day, how they are fed, and led us into groups. The room where they wanted to assign us turned out to be quite spacious and bright, with a large window and a fireplace that used to work. Mattresses piled in the corner caught my eye. Our escort explained: during quiet hours, children can rest on them. After Russian kindergartens with made beds, it was quite unexpected. You can even say that we were not ready for this.
Interschool offered us a convenient option - a trial day. You pay 20 GEL (566 R) and bring your child to see the garden. You can leave it for a few hours or for a whole day with food. This allows you to understand whether the child likes it here and whether it is worth paying for a month.
Amicus. Cost - 400 GEL (11 324 R) per month.
Georgian kindergarten with Russian-speaking groups, which is also located in the city center. This is a bright, turquoise-light green two-story house with flags and lanterns at the entrance and a cartoon sign.
We stumbled across him by accident, we didn't arrange a meeting. But we were still warmly welcomed and allowed to see the premises and the yard.
The group where it was proposed to assign a daughter was spacious, with a fireplace. We did not find an abundance of toys here either. There are handicrafts and all kinds of visual materials on the walls.
It was not possible to talk to the future teacher, a man who manages the garden with his wife talked to us. He said that children write in copybooks, count and are engaged in creativity. There are additional chess lessons. Just like in most Georgian gardens, here you can see the national language and culture of Georgia in the schedule, which would be very useful for unobtrusive assimilation.
The children were noisy in the garden, leaving, cuddling with the teachers and it was cozy, although cool. We thought that the garden is pleasant and, if we choose between budget ones, it suits us the most. Here we felt some special Georgian charm and authenticity.
We saw this garden for the first time in the evening. The entrance was illuminated with garlands, and it looked very sincere. The group was watched in the evening and already without children. During the day, it certainly looks more advantageousLider Star. Cost - 400 GEL (11 324 R) per month.
Kindergarten with Russian-speaking and mixed groups on Takaishvili Street. It also suited our price and looked very interesting from the outside. My first association is a modern teremok. We decided to watch it and agreed with the manager at 19:00. But at the appointed time, she was not at the place and the garden was already closed.
True, the teacher who saw off the last children received us and showed us everything. It's empty inside, like everywhere else, there are few toys. It would be possible to find fault with cleanliness, but the employee warned that on Friday evening, when we were there, they don’t clean up - they put things in order before the start of a new week. In addition, we watched it already dark, perhaps in the daytime it would have seemed more friendly to us.
We did not like the area where this garden is located: it is far from the center and looks depressingSmile School Сlub. Cost — 700 GEL (19,817 Р).
Kindergarten for Russian-speaking children. It is located on the second floor of a residential multi-storey building. We noticed him from the street - we paid attention to the racks with toys, which is rare for Batumi. We were met by director Leonid, a very pleasant young man who gave us a lot of time and attention.
The garden is small but very cozy. Here for the first time we saw lockers for clothes - a mandatory attribute of a kindergarten in Russia. In Batumi, there are often no places for changing clothes for children, and in general, changing clothes is somehow not accepted.
In one of the rooms, a sports playroom with climbing frames and wall bars was equipped - children are brought into it in groups one by one. The classrooms are light and very warm.
According to Leonid, the garden will expand. The preparatory group should soon move to a new, larger premises.
Here again, for the first time, we were asked for a medical certificate and a scraping for enterobiosis. And we were glad because we met at least some rules. In all other cases, the obligatory conditions were only payment.
Above the garden there are residential apartments, and below there is a supermarket. Everything looks very solid and well-groomed, there are many high-quality wooden toys. Source: social networks of the gardenThe teacher of the preparatory group seemed very demanding and serious to us. She said that she would accept her daughter if she already knows the numbers and reads by syllables. While we were talking, she politely but sternly made remarks to the children. She was laconic with us and did not try to please. In a word, such a classic Russian teacher with whom you can’t spoil. There is no doubt that all her pupils write, count and behave perfectly. Do they love her is the question.
However, it was the end of the week, banal fatigue could have had an effect. Leaving, we almost decided that we had found the very ideal option. In addition, there was only one place left in our group, and this spurred us not to delay the decision. But already on the way out, we talked with the mother, who came for her son. He is in her younger group.
The girl said that they chose this garden because there were no other places. And she's not completely satisfied. She shared that there was an unpleasant incident when she brought the child in the morning, a little late, and the door was simply slammed in front of her nose. But the son in the group has a good teacher, he got used to her, so they continue to go. But in the preparatory group, according to the girl, the teacher is very strict, shouting. With it, children scare the younger ones.
By the way, in the introductory paper for beginners that Leonid gave us, there was also a comment about the time: “You must bring the child at 09:00, not later. You can stay for 15 minutes, but this should not be systematic.
Due to newly discovered circumstances, we decided to take a time out and think some more.
What we have chosen. The opportunity for a trial day that we were given at Interschool played a decisive role in the end. During this day, Polya managed to find a girlfriend there and was fascinated by the teacher Anna Olegovna. And my daughter was also happy with the opportunity to stay awake during the day - we ended up in a non-sleeping group.
Considering how eagerly Polina went to the garden, we dismissed the rest of the options with a light heart. The next day, we signed a contract and paid for the stay for the first month.

Daily routine. Our garden is open from 09:30 to 18:00. The day starts with breakfast. Then three or four classes are held in the preparatory group with short breaks for rest. After them, lunch. Then the children go for a walk. When they return, they will have an afternoon snack. Then - hobby classes and dinner.
They go for walks every day. Polya tells us about walks in the city park and on the embankment. While moving along the city streets, children are put on bright vests.
Polina misses her garden in Russia, but she still feels good in Batumi. This playground is a 20-minute walk from our garden, and teachers are not too lazy to bring children hereClasses. Older children are actively preparing for school, and there are many of them. They write in cursive, solve logical problems, read, learn poetry and English. Judging by the number of crafts that Polya brings home, they do a lot of creative work.
The teacher uploads videos and photos to the parent chat, from which we see that the children, for example, studied the composition of numbers, wrote a graphic dictation, recited an excerpt from "Eugene Onegin" and painted illustrations.
Another teacher conducts music lessons for children. The other is physical education. True, after several lessons, Polina said that she did not want to go to physical education. Since she is not one of those who just chirp, we asked her not to force her in order to sort out the problem. Since then, at physical education, my daughter sat on a bench with Anna Olegovna - there was no coercion.
Later it was possible to find out what the root of the problem was - in the swing of the press. Polya admitted that she did not succeed in this exercise and she was upset, so she believed that it was better not to do it at all. We discussed this moment with her, practiced a little together - and she again began to go to physical education.
There is no snow in Batumi this year, but in children's fantasies winter looks like thisMeals. They feed the children four times a day, but there are questions about nutrition. The menu states that there should be milk porridge in the morning, but my daughter says that they are dry and does not want to eat them. For a long time, only the first and salad were given for lunch. So if someone did not like the soup, then in the middle of the day he could remain hungry.
The parents did not like this situation and insisted on changing the menu. If earlier a hot second course was only for dinner, now it is also served for lunch. The afternoon snack is a fruity snack. Usually apple and tangerine.

How to arrange a child in a garden abroad and how much it costs: 7 stories
In general, as we understand, food in Georgian gardens is not very diverse. Other parents spoke about this as well. My daughter often talks about nuggets and macaroni and cheese. There is a feeling that they are saving on products.
In the garden dining room on the ground floor, it also feels like it used to be a hotel. On paper, everything is quite balanced on the menu.Atmosphere. I like our garden because there is no drill in it. At the same time, I clearly see that classes with children are not in vain. Already after the first days in the garden, Polya began to give us some interesting facts and asked at home to also write graphic dictations with her. And before the winter holidays, my daughter ran home with a loud "Happy holiday!". I think it's a success.
We had a very soulful New Year's party: the children sang a lot, danced and behaved as relaxedly as possible. Poems to Santa Claus were read at will, without a staged kindergarten recitation, which is often a sin in preschool work in Russia.
A Christmas tree was lit in the garden before the New Year. The former wellcome area of the hotel is a little cramped for the holidays, but this did not bother either the children or the parentsWhy our garden is not ideal
The main plus of our garden is the teacher. As I said, in Russia we always chose good teachers for our daughter, and then the conditions. Therefore, in Georgia we turn a blind eye to minor troubles.
But for the sake of completeness, it is still worth remembering them:
- The garden does not refund money for sick days or holidays. For example, in January this could have a significant impact on payment. But similar conditions were voiced to us in other gardens of Batumi.
- The food could have been better. In Russia, we never had breakfast at home. And here we have to: my daughter refuses kindergarten porridge.
- Sanitation can also be upgraded. I rate the cleanliness of the premises at four, but this is my fad. I want to put more shelves for shoes. Come up with something with mattresses that lie on the floor. Bring comfort. But I know that the employees are trying to keep the garden clean and tidy: I constantly see the technical staff at work, the gardener taking care of the plants and the yard. There are always clean free shoe covers at the entrance.
- There is a lack of changing rooms and children's lockers. Polya is embarrassed that she has to change clothes right in the group in front of everyone.
- We need more toys - this applies to many gardens in Batumi. Our children entertain themselves with what they have brought from home.
- The administration lacks courtesy and attention towards parents and children. Here they know about the demand for these services. And if something doesn't suit you, it's easy to find someone else to take your place. We are used to receiving quality service for a fee.
It is important to understand that all the flaws of your future kindergarten cannot be found on the Internet. Online reviews are not about Georgia. Word of mouth and personal contact is the main thing that works here.
Daughter loves to bring treats to friends in the kindergarten - this is not forbidden hereWhat about the school
If we stay in Batumi, the daughter will most likely go here, to Interschool: there is a primary and secondary school. Children from the kindergarten are given priority when enrolling - this is important in case there is a big demand. There are no more than 12 people in the classes. Children will be assigned to a school in Russia, where they will be assessed remotely.
Price per month - 650 GEL (18 402 R). There is an extension - plus 300 GEL (8493 R). She is willing. For lunches at school, you have to pay another 120 GEL (3397 R). Total for a full day is 1070 GEL (30,292 R) per month.
There are other options. For example, the private school School Club - the already mentioned mother from Belarus told us about it. The cost per month is 920 GEL (26,045 R). The same amount will have to be paid as a one-time entry fee. There are seven to eight children in classes. They also study as usual, and take exams online and are attached to a Russian school for this. Education is carried out according to the "School of Russia" program. There are no grades and, as they say in the School Club, almost no homework. Certification takes place once a year according to the Federal State Educational Standard.
The price of the contract includes food, delivery of children by bus, stationery and textbooks. If you need a full day, you will have to pay an additional 670 GEL (18,968 R). The child can choose activities according to his interests and stay at school until the evening.
Tell us about the school where your child is studying
True, we learned that the local authorities had claims against the school because it worked without authorization and did not have the right to educational activities in Georgia. We do not know how this issue was resolved, but apparently it was resolved, since the school is still open and children go there.
Everything is arranged in a similar way at Spring School. Studying in Russian in a regular first grade costs 6,500 GEL (184,015 R) per year, but the payment system is different: the academic year is divided into five modules lasting approximately seven weeks - you need to pay 1,240 GEL (35,100 R) for one module at a time ). For this, they promise five hours of English per week, Peterson math, native language and reading, the world around and physical education. In the new academic year, they plan to take an English class here - for 7,250 GEL (205,248 R) a year, a child can learn the language in depth.
First-graders are not given homework, but parents can pay for an extension if they wish. After the lessons, the children are waiting for additional education. In social networks, Spring School constantly emphasizes: this is not a school, but a kind of educational environment, and self-expression, happiness and a healthy mentality of a child mean more to them than academic performance, measured in a regular school by grades.
There are other private schools. Euro-2000 and the 21st century gymnasium are considered popular. The cost of education for a first-grader is the same in them - 5000 GEL (141,550 R) per year. The cost of food is not fixed. Children can buy something from the school cafeteria or take lunch from home. In the 21st century, in the new academic year, first-graders will study in the second shift.
It is now February and many private schools are already accepting applications from those wishing to attend in September. We called Euro-2000 and 21st Century, and they said that after collecting all the applications, the children will have a test that will allow us to assess the level of preparation of the child and his psychological readiness for educational activities. It depends on the test results whether the child is enrolled or not.
I don't know what the admission conditions are at other schools. We have not yet studied this issue thoroughly, but, apparently, it is high time.
In Georgia, Polya could already be accepted into the first grade of a private school, but we are in no hurry to say goodbye to childhoodIn addition, even without a residence permit, school-age children are accepted into regular state Georgian schools. There is a Russian sector in schools No. 3 and 7 in Batumi. But they say it's very difficult to get there because of the high demand. We were told that on the day when the online admission opens - usually in April - it is very difficult to have time to apply. Those who wish will need the help of a Georgian with very fast fingers, who will fill out an electronic document.
In general, if in Batumi schools there is no race for progress and drill, just as they are not in our kindergarten, then for us this is a weighty argument to stay here.
A few years ago, both public schools with the Russian sector were renovatedNote to parents
- To get into a public kindergarten in Georgia, you need to apply for a residence permit. Children are admitted to private kindergartens after the conclusion of the contract - no additional documents are required. Medical certificates are often not needed.
- Few people have their own websites. Contacts of gardens and other information are easier to find on social networks. True, for unknown reasons, the same institution may have different names. For example, the kindergarten "Tsisartkel" maintains an account in social networks with the name "Prometheus".
- If a child missed kindergarten due to illness, the recalculation will most likely not be done. Check this point with the administration.
- Additional classes in modeling, theatre, legoconstruction, vocals and others in many gardens are not included in the contract price. You'll have to pay more.
- Batumi gardens do not have large walking areas. Usually children are taken out to get some air in a miniature patio or walk with them in a park, on a city playground or by the sea.
- There are sleeping and non-sleeping groups in the gardens. Choose the mode that will be more comfortable for your child.
- Four meals a day: breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. European cuisine.
- Children are treated kindly and do not require much from them. For sincerity and relaxed atmosphere to all Georgian madloba kindergartens, that is, thanks.

Most young people living in Georgia believe that there is no work in their native land, and therefore they leave for other regions, other countries in search of better prospects. In part, they are right, because a lot of enterprises in Georgia, let's say, are in decline. And so young people and people of the older generation decide to leave, for example, to Europe, to America, to Israel. They can be understood, because everyone has a family, everyone wants a good life, everyone wants to work well and earn good money as well. And most of the people who moved from Georgia did it.
But this article will present 22 small business ideas that can be implemented right in 2020 in Batumi. Not only in Batumi, but throughout Georgia. Ideas that really work. You can take something interesting for yourself and bring it to life, because none of the ideas is invented. All of them are formulated on the basis of an analysis of the life of the population in small and seaside towns.
Experience in the development of world leaders
If you get acquainted with the experience of the development of Italy or America, Israel, you can find a lot of useful things there and apply it to yourself, bring it here, to sunny magnificent Georgia with a gorgeous climate, with wonderful people.
Many of you may decide that it is in Georgia that all this is difficult to implement, it will not work, it is wrong. But, let's fast forward to Batumi in 2025, a little bit into the future, and you will see that more than half of these professions will already be occupied. And by this time, people will have accumulated reviews, recommendations, reputations in 5 years.
Try to open at least one of these businesses in Germany, where all these niches are already full. Try to implement this in Moscow or St. Petersburg, there is also too much competition. And a huge number of people dream of being the only ones there. And in Batumi you can be the one and only.
If you or someone from your relatives and acquaintances is also thinking about moving in search of happiness in foreign lands, then, perhaps, having familiarized yourself with the proposed options for earning money, you will change your mind. In Georgia, and in Batumi in particular, there are so many free niches, so many free moments, so why not stay and try to solve the problem. After all, solving someone's problems, you can get paid for it.
Many people live by the principle “it is better to steal well than to think badly”. Here are ideas, career options, and it's up to you to use them or not.
Advertisement Consultant
For such great services as "airbnb" and "booking.com", this is a pain and a problem. In Batumi, services are used very poorly. And all homeowners, owners of apartments intended for rent, dream that their housing will be successfully rented out during the high season. But few landlords understand how the airbnb service really works, how you can really make money on such services by renting out your apartments in Georgia not only in the high season, but also in the low season.
About 3-4% of users are at least somehow oriented in working with services, the rest, one might say, go with the flow. Someone relies on the advice of a son or nephew, someone on their own intuition. And therefore, a consultant on the placement of residential facilities, whether it be houses, apartments, hotel rooms, on the services of "airbnb" or "booking.com" in the city of Batumi, in Borjomi, in Tbilisi, in Georgia as a whole, will always be in demand. To do this, you only need to thoroughly study the principles of working with these services. And you will be able to offer your services as an accommodation consultant, promotion of owners and their apartments to the top positions, so that housing is rented out profitably and brings more profit.
Become a placement consultant, start educating users, start making money from it.
Master of impressions
A profession that has been and will be in demand is a master of impressions , or a guide to impressions. All over the world, masters of experience are doing business. And they do it cool, so easy and natural. How it works? For example, on the airbnb website, in addition to renting apartments, rooms or houses, there is a tab “Organization of experiences”, where you can earn money by introducing people to what you love.
Here you can become one of those people who offer excursions to the sights of Georgia, where the most interesting Georgian cuisine is, or take a trip to Kazbegi, or have an excursion to the monastery, or climb impassable places uphill with an interesting history. It's easy to be a master of impressions. Today it exists in Georgia, but everything is still in its infancy.
Tour guides have nothing more to offer than a worn leaf with faded lines. And everything should be clear to you: provide a video review of interesting places, offer 15-20 routes, that is, you must give impressions. For example, it would be interesting for guests of the country to visit some village where there are people who can invite them to their home, feed them with homemade food, sing folk songs, dance, show their way of life.
Show what they do, how they grow grapes, where they have a cow, how they go to the mountains, where they get mountain water. Because people who have been sitting in the cities, tired of the city crowd, want to touch this original world of Georgia. At least for a day, plunge into this purity, untouchedness. This will be a great experience for them.
Organize a Loyal Visitor Center
Or you can also call it "Open Day". It would be interesting, for example, in Borjomi, to come to the plant where the well-known Georgian mineral water "Borjomi" is made. And, besides this, there is also a huge mass of different brands of wonderful delicious water, carbonated, non-carbonated. And people are ready to pay money to visit these factories, to see how everything works there. In turn, they would share their impressions, their videos with friends and on the Internet, which would definitely benefit businesses, because it is free advertising.
Or another example. A very good Agrohub store, where you can eat and buy groceries for home, where the staff is very loyal. And it would be interesting to attend a small master class where they would talk about the fact that this company has its own farmstead, its own farms, what wonderful chefs work there who prepare delicious dishes.
Having attended such a master class, people would tell others about it, and tourists would go. This is the best advertisement. Instead, the leadership does not open the door, but closes it, forbidding even just to shoot a video. Although this is always welcome all over the world, because when a loyal visitor comes, he then shares information on social networks, he acts, in fact, as an advertising agent of the enterprise.
Organize a master class
And here is a good example of organizing a master class for children at Domino's Pizza. The child is given shoe covers, a hat, a uniform, and he himself cooks his own pizza with the real chefs of the pizzeria and then treats his family to it. Then mom shares interesting photos, dad also shares, and even uploads a video, that is, many more people will learn about it. So why don't you become the one who "opens the doors" and popularizes the national Georgian cuisine, Georgian enterprises, Georgian firms, and not go somewhere in Greece to pick strawberries?
By the way, the harvest. Georgia is the subtropics where anything grows: tangerines, oranges, nuts, strawberries, figs, persimmons, cherries. Many tourists come here to relax from those places where it all does not grow. Rich in land, in fruits, in people, Georgia for some reason still does not offer joint harvesting. And there are plenty of people who want to participate in the collection of strawberries or grapes in Georgia.
Children will especially enjoy picking tangerines, which they usually only see on store shelves. After all, there are small farmsteads, small farms where you can collect certain fruits almost all year round. If you become the one who organizes the local harvest for tourists, then your services will always be in demand.
All you need to do is reach an agreement with farmers, owners of farmsteads, private houses, where all this is available. And people who sit too long at computers in offices will be ready to pay to be escorted to pick a basket of fruit from a Georgian farmstead, or raspberries from a mountain spring, or persimmons in a garden.
Horseback riding around the area
Today, tourists who come to the mountains are only offered to ride quad bikes or motorcycles. But many residents of cities, megacities dream of another proposal. So that the organizer, for example, invites those who wish to go a couple of kilometers from Batumi, announces the cost of a taxi ride to the place where a man with horses will be waiting for them. And people could ride horses around the neighborhood for several hours, along the hill, along the country road, through the forest.
But so far you can only find tired ponies for kids in the city. And people want to touch wildlife, show it to their child, show it to their wife, then show videos and photos, show everyone how cool it is to ride horses. Such walks are very popular in many countries. So why don't you become an organizer of horse rides in Georgia?
One day in a Georgian village
Organize one day of life in a Georgian village for tourists. It can be a completely remote village where there is no Internet, where there are still dirt floors in the houses, where people go to the store once a week. For the townspeople, it will be an adventure to see how it all lives. And if they are also allowed to look at or stroke, say, a calf, even if it costs a few tens of lari, then they will generally be just happy.
The calf will not lose, the mistress is well, the child is well, everyone is well, everyone has a selfie and an explosion of emotions. And you don't need a whole week, just one day is enough not to annoy the locals. And at the same time, everyone would be happy: both the owners of the house, and the guests, and you, as the organizer.
Arrange cooks' home visits
Excellent chefs work in various places in Georgia. And many visitors would be interested in organizing a master class on cooking local dishes at home. Or the chef can simply come or invite him to his place and cook something from the Georgian national cuisine at home. And it does not have to be a professional, because any hostess who often makes, say, khinkali, cooks them in a special way, according to her own unique recipes, with some of her own secret ingredients and spices.
And in this case, if you're not even a chef and don't know how to cook, but you have organizational skills, you may well become a manager who sells the services of delicious cooks. Advertise on Instagram, Facebook, make a small website and offer chef services with unique menus. Gather a few craftsmen and become an intermediary between these chefs and customers.
Room cleaning service
Looking at the speed and scale with which high-rise buildings are being built in Batumi, in which apartments will soon be rented and sold, we can say with confidence that cleaning services will be in great demand. They are still in demand, even services for rental housing, such as "airbnb" and "booking.com", already require the provision of cleaning services after each arrival. And if you now become the organizer of such a service, you will definitely not lose.
And if you also work out the division into areas, for example, cleaning residential buildings and cleaning premises after repair, then this will work one hundred percent. After all, it works in other countries, in other cities. And you should not leave Georgia to be hired to work in other countries, while visitors are developing this business in your homeland, and upon your return you will work for them. Be the first organizers yourself, occupy free niches today.
Photographer for airbnb
This is a profession that will be in great demand for many years if you become a real professional. If you thoroughly study what to shoot, how to shoot, from what angle, then how to take selling photos. But at the same time not deceiving, no photoshop. For "airbnb" or "booking.com" photoshop is simply unacceptable.
In this business, you also need to become just a master, because, for example, on services, housing is sold only thanks to two things. These are photos and a title. Ceteris paribus, when the cost is plus or minus a couple of dollars, people make a decision in favor of this or that housing, focusing solely on photographs.
Therefore, the photographs must be in the correct order and in the correct places, that is, from the very beginning you need to show the bed, then the shower room, then the kitchen. And instead, unknowing homeowners provide photographs of chandeliers, kettles, towels, floor tiles. And then they wonder why there are no sales. And all because there is no one who offers the services of an intelligent photographer.
Specialist in organizing weddings and romantic dates
If they exist in Georgia, then you can find them today only through word of mouth, which is poorly tuned among visitors. For example, people wanted to arrange such a la honeymoon in Batumi and are ready to pay well for the organization. But here it is very difficult to find specialists who would meet their requirements, who could rent them accommodation, take them on excursions.
After all, Batumi is such a romantic city, with a beautiful embankment, with such a variety of beautiful places. And you can become one of the professionals who will take care of and organize romantic leisure for lovers, for couples who want to refresh their relationship, for those who want new experiences or celebrate a wedding anniversary.
Sales Manager
That's what is missing here, and what will be in demand, and will always be in trend, because no one will ever replace a sales manager. There are very weak sellers here, sitting in stores, in shops, in boutiques, who, instead of greeting a visitor, a potential client, do not look up from their phones. This is the pain of all small towns. Put your phones away, learn from the best, do self-development, take courses, become a first-class salesperson.
Because sales managers are not born, they are made. In big cities, the seller is a master of his craft. Because both the employer and the hired employee understand that the place, the salary, and the profit must pay off. You will always be in demand if you can sell everything. It is learned, it is not an innate skill. And if you also learn languages, there will be no price for you. Learn, gain experience, get better.
These 23 ideas for your small business are, of course, not the limit, there are many more.
