Replace your door handle with door knobs

This will work for very young children, because doors with lever handles are the easiest kind to open. All the child has to do is pull the handle, and they’re off. If you have door knobs, on the other hand, it takes some serious dexterity to get them open.

Early toddlers probably can’t do it yet. So, if you have some knobs laying around, this may buy you some time. But ultimately, you’re still going to have to deal with a child who can open your door.

Get a child proof door lock that clips onto the door and locks the door in a slightly open position

This kind of child lock for doors doubles as a pinch guard because the door stays slightly open, allowing fresh air to circulate. You can place it at any height, so in theory, you could place it up high where kids are less likely to reach it.

My biggest issue with this solution is your door doesn’t completely close. There are times, like when a baby is napping in that room, where you probably don’t want the door open, even if it’s not open wide enough for your toddler to sneak through.

For me, the doors I wanted to keep my kids out of, I wanted to stay shut. Not a little open. Shut. There is an approved GOST that specifies a standard height for a door handle. For all types of doors of standard sizes, it is recommended to adhere to an indicator of 1 meter. nine0003

This value has been established statistically and is considered the most convenient for a person of average height. Installing door handles at a distance of 1 m from the bottom of the leaf guarantees ease of movement of the interior product.

Manufacturers of standard doors design door leafs according to these standards. Popular MDF doors are designed in such a way that inserting a handle on an interior door is feasible only in a specially equipped area.

The figure clearly shows a solid wooden beam that forms the castle area. Its length allows you to vary the height of the insert from the floor by a maximum of 10 cm up or down. 1. Handle creaks when pressed

Buy a new pin at any hardware store and cut to length
Place wood chips or pieces of thick cardboard in this socket (at the end of the handle) to "lengthen" the existing pin.

3. The pressure part of the handle fell off, but the mount remained in place

You need to check what exactly happened in the following way - unscrew the mounting plate and see what condition the ring is in. If the whole, then bend it more. Then return the handle to its place, put the ring on top.

4. Door handle square burst

If the door handle falls off or does not hold in the grooves, this may be due to a burst square inside the structure. The square is the base of the door handle. The main plus is that the square can be bought and replaced.

Choose a new steel square and preferably from the manufacturer of your doorknob to fit. If you can’t find it, you will have to cut it with a grinder to fit the size of the old square. nine0003

5. The handle does not return to its original position after being pressed

This happens when the spring has flown or burst. This part is located behind the retaining ring and connects all the structural elements together.

To repair the spring, remove the mounting plate, remove the retaining ring and fix the spring. If the spring is broken, you can replace it. But often finding a similar part becomes problematic. In this case, you need to buy a new handle entirely. nine0003

6. Rusted cylinder mechanism

Some door handles have a cylinder mechanism that is needed to close the door from the inside without a key.

Such a cylinder may rust and turn poorly. Because of this, it is difficult to press the handle and open the front door. Sometimes, due to severe corrosion, the door completely jams.

Solving this problem is easy:

Remove the mounting plate
Armed with WD-40
Lubricate through the slots next to the cylinder - the entire lock must be lubricated
After that, wait 10 minutes and wipe off excess grease with a lint-free cloth. If the villi get stuck in the lock, it will jam so that you have to buy a new
Pour more lubricant on the lock and turn it. This must be done slowly and carefully so that the cylinder is not damaged
