How old is Harry Potter?

In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone Harry Potter was eleven years old. When we say this it also applies to his school colleagues from his year, since most of the first years are eleven when they start school.

In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, he and his friends are twelve. In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, they are thirteen, in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire fourteen, in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix fifteen, in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince sixteen, and finally, in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, they are seventeen years old.

Most fans know that Harry Potter and J. Rolling have the same birthday and that the famous date is July 31, but the author has also revealed the birthdays of many other characters over the years. Lord Voldemort made his first attempt to disprove the prophecy when Harry was one year and three months old.

In this attempt, he kills Harry’s parents while Harry’s parents are trying to defend him, and this attempt to kill Harry resulted in Voldemort’s first Horcrux which was the accidental one.

This event marked the end of the First Wizarding War, and Harry became known as the “The boy who lived” because he was the only survivor of this deadly curse. On his 11th birthday, Harry finds out he is a wizard because Rubeus Hagrid appears with a birthday cake and tells him about his family. This is one of our favorite scenes!

Harry first attended the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 1991. Hat’s first decision was to put Harry in the Slytherin house, but Harry asked for “no Slytherin”, and the Hat listened to this request instead. Let’s remember how Harry’s decision influenced the rest of his life.

So he was put in the Gryffindor House. At school, Harry became close friends with Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, then the youngest Quidditch seeker of the century, and finally the Quidditch captain of Gryffindor House in his sixth year. He helped win 6 cups.

In his fourth year, Harry won the Triwizard Tournament, although the competition ended with the tragic death of Cedric Diggory and the return of Lord Voldemort. How old is Hermione Granger?

Hermione Jean Granger was born on 19 September 1979. She was an English Muggle-born witch born to Mr. and Mrs. Granger. At the age of eleven, she learned about her magical nature and was accepted into the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Hermione began attending Hogwarts in 1991 and was Sorted into Gryffindor House. She possessed a superb educational mind and it was known she would be a remarkable student in virtually every subject that she studied.

During her fourth year, Hermione became an advocate for the better treatment of house-elves, forming the association S.P.E.W., and helped in Harry’s preparation for the Triwizard Tournament. In her fifth year, Hermione became one of the founders of Dumbledore’s Army and fought alongside other members in the Battle of the Department of Mysteries.

Hermione then fought in the Battle of Hogwarts, helping in the defeat of the Death Eater who tortured her, Bellatrix Lestrange.

How old is Ron Weasley?

Ronald Bilius “Ron” Weasley was born on March 1, 1980, and he was the sixth and youngest son of Arthur and Molly Weasley and an English pure-blood-born wizard. He was also Bill’s, Charlie’s, Percy’s, Fred’s, and George’s younger brother, as well as Ginny’s older brother.

The twins delighted in teasing Ron, as did his younger sister Ginny, though they were all close. Ron was terribly protective of Ginny, which we can notice clearly when she was seeing Dean who made her cry very often. So Ron had the right to intervene, or at least he thought so.

Luna attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as a student and made friends with the famous trio. She was a Ravenclaw House student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from 1992 to 1999. Luna joined Dumbledore’s Army, a Harry Potter-led organization, in her fourth year, and quickly rose through the ranks.

How old are the other Harry Potter characters?

When James and Lily were 20 years old, they just had Harry, and when Sirius was just 21 years old when he entered Azkaban. These facts are not the easiest to grasp since we believed Sirius was much older.

When Harry first arrived at Hogwarts, Hagrid was 63 years old, while Snape was just 31. According to the Harry Potter fandom Wiki, Lupin and Tonks married in 1997, making Lupin 37 years old and Tonks 24 years old. Tonks attended the same school as Charlie Weasley, but she graduated only a few months before Harry.

James and Lily probably married and had Harry at a young age because of the first war against Voldemort, which is not that strange at all. Of course, it was only because of their deaths and Lily’s sacrifice for Harry that their story ended so suddenly.

Tonks most likely decided to marry Remus as soon as possible during the second Voldemort war for the same reasons. Remus’s condition had kept him from finding a partner, let alone having a wife and child.

Students are not sent a letter on their birthdays, however. They typically get their letters/notifications in the summer before school starts. By coincidence, Harry’s birthday is in the summer, so it is about the same time, and technically Harry got his first letter a week before his birthday.

The events of Philosopher’s Stone take place between 1991 and 1992. Filming began on September 29, 2000, and continued until March 23, 2001. Its release was scheduled for November 4, 2001.

The main character, Harry Potter, was 11 years old during the events of the first book/movie. Since the ages of characters did not differ in the books and movies, it is safe to say how old a certain character was at what time.

However, the actors were sometimes a bit older or younger. So, for example, Daniel Radcliffe was 11 years old during the filming of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

Many influenced the young British actors from the “Potter” films influenced Radcliffe, maybe none more so than Gary Oldman, who played Sirius Black in many of the films, most notably the last, 2004’s “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.” Surprisingly, Radcliffe considers the film to be the time he learned he liked acting.

He claims that his parents (who sat patiently in a room next door during the interview) constantly reminded him that he was “not obligated to just keep doing this. ”

Ron Weasley, Harry’s best friend often seems less mature than Harry or Hermione. However, he was 11, going on 12 at the time. His actor was a bit older and was exactly a year older than his character. So, Rupert Grint was 12 at the time of filming.

The cast members were mostly peers, and have all celebrated birthdays when the release date finally came. Hermione Granger was 11-12 years old during the first movie, but Emma Watson was only 10 and just turned 11 when the movie was released.

She wished to continue acting but says college was the easy choice. She intended to major in literature and painting, but she was also interested in design. So at some point, she even signed with a modeling agency.

Neville Longbottom was 11 years old and so was the actor Matthew Lewis. But Draco Malfoy was 11 and was played by Tom Felton who was filming at the age of 13. he eventually turned 14 by the time the movie was in the cinemas.

Fred & George Weasley were 13-14 years old, while their partners in crime James & Oliver Phelps were older, being 14-15 years old during filming.

Ginny Weasley was 10 years old, not much younger than her brother Ron, and Bonnie Wright was only 9 while playing Ginny.

The activities of the Chamber of Secrets take place between 1992 and 1993. Filming began on November 19, 2001, and concluded in July 2002. It was released on November 3, 2002.

It is the second installment in the Harry Potter film series and the sequel to Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (2001).

The activities of Prisoner of Azkaban take place between 1993 and 1994. Filming began on February 24, 2003, and concluded in October 2003. and it was released on May 23, 2004.

Its plot revolves around Harry Potter’s third year at Hogwarts, where he learns that an inmate named Sirius Black has escaped from Azkaban and plans to kill him.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire – real-life ages

The activities of Goblet of Fire took place between 1994 and 1995. Filming took place between June 25th, 2004, and a date I cannot recall, but it was a very long film.

We can estimate that post-production took 6 months because that is how long the last one took, so shooting finished in May 2005. On November 6, 2005, it was finally released. This is the first movie in which we see the darker theme. After all, our characters are now in puberty and are showing angst.

The film is the first in the series to be rated PG-13 in the United States and 12A in the United Kingdom. The production began in early 2004. Leavesden Film Studios was used to film the Hogwarts scenes.

Five days after its debut, the film had earned more than US$102 million at the North American box office, making it the third-highest first-weekend haul for a Harry Potter film, behind only Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Parts 1 and 2.

Goblet of Fire had an enormously profitable box office run, grossing $896 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film of 2005 and the sixth-highest-grossing film in the Harry Potter franchise.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix – real-life ages

The events of Order of the Phoenix take place between 1995 and 1996. Filming began on February 7, 2006, and continued until December 31, 2006. It was released on June 28th, 2007.

From February to November 2006, live-action shooting took place in England and Scotland for outdoor locations, and at Leavesden Film Studios in Watford for interior locations, with a one-month break in June.

Post-production on the film lasted several months after it was finished in order to incorporate special effects. According to reports, the film’s budget ranged between £75 and £100 million ($150–200 million).

The film was released in the United Kingdom on July 12, 2007, and in North America on July 11, 2007, in both traditional and IMAX theaters; it is the first Potter film to be released in IMAX 3D.

Order of the Phoenix is the longest novel in the Harry Potter series, with 766 pages in the British edition and 870 in the American edition, but the film is the second shortest.

The inclusion or exclusion of certain characters sparked fan speculation about the significance of the characters in the final book of the series, which was released only ten days after the film.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince – real-life ages

Helen McCrory plays Narcissa Malfoy, Draco’s mother and Bellatrix’s younger sister. McCrory was supposed to play Bellatrix in Order of the Phoenix, but she had to drop out due to pregnancy. Naomi Watts was previously reported to have accepted the role, only for her agency to deny it.

Clémence Poésy, who played Fleur Delacour, and Chris Rankin, who played Percy Weasley, both showed interest in reprising their roles but did not feature in the film. After Bill Nighy expressed interest in playing Minister for Magic Rufus Scrimgeour, Yates confirmed that Nighy would be his first choice. Scrimgeour’s character was eventually dropped.

Further Tom Riddle’s background was removed, such as the Gaunts, because they felt it was more important to focus on Riddle as a young boy (issues covered in the story were influenced by the ages of the characters), and an additional action scene at the Burrow was added to keep with the franchise’s tone.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – real-life ages

Deathly Hallows broke sales records upon its publication, outperforming previous games in the Harry Potter franchise. This is the darkest movie, well, movies. Death, growing up, being alone, and being isolated are motifs that perfectly capture the ages of the characters.

The novel was mostly well-received by reviewers, and it won the Colorado Blue Spruce Book Award in 2008, as well as the American Library Association’s “Best Book for Young Adults” award due to the fact it being more popular among teenagers because of the ages of the characters.

The book was adapted into a film in two installments, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 in November 2010 and Part 2 in July 2011.

Many other analyses of concepts in the books have been established by academics and writers, some more nuanced than others and some having political subtexts.

Normalcy, tyranny, survival, and overcoming imposing odds have all been identified as themes that run throughout the series.

The events of Deathly Hallows took place between 1997 and 1998. This did not affect the ages of characters as much as the real-life ages of actors.

Parts 1 and 2 were shot back-to-back, beginning on the 19th of February 2009 and ending on the 12th of June 2010. Part 1 was released on November 11, 2010, and Part 2 was released on July 7, 2011. Still, the real-life ages of the actors tell a story of the period in which the movies were shot.

About the fact that Radcliffe did not need to continue performing after playing the one and only Harry Potter, the actor went on to have a very good post-Potter career.

Warning: This article contains massive spoilers for 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child'. As in: the opposite of #KeeptheSecrets.

As someone who was lucky enough to have seen Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on the West End stage, you might think the question, “Who is the Cursed Child?” would be an easy one for me to answer. You would be wrong. Like so much of the Harry Potter fictional universe — J.K. Rowling (and brilliant The Cursed Child writer Jack Thorne) are much too masterful for that.

The Cursed Child is thematically rich in so many ways, a treatise in the baggage we carry with us all (both through the wall at Platform 9 ¾ and, more importantly, emotionally). It asks questions like: “How is our identity shaped by our parents?”, “Do we ever really grow up?”, and “What effect does our past — and the people we love who are no longer with us — have on the person we are in this moment?”

Coming out of The Cursed Child, I wasn’t sure if I could tell you the identity of the eponymous cursed child, but that wasn’t a dissatisfying revelation in any way. We are all of us cursed children, in some ways. Cursed with the burden of the knowledge that we won’t live forever, and that the people we love won’t live forever, and that — even in a world rife with magic — this is one truth no spell (resurrection stones, aside) can change. Let’s take a look at all of the cursed children in the latest Harry Potter installment...

I was not expecting for The Cursed Child to get so very retrospectively dark about Harry’s troubled past, but did it ever — and it was one of the best parts of the all-around brilliant play. In the present-day storyline, Harry’s behavior — and most particularly his parenting decisions regarding Albus — were not always the wisest. However, the brief, atmospheric, heartbreaking flashbacks to major moments from his childhood put them in perspective and made Parent Harry deeply sympathetic, even in the most face-palmy of moments.

In these flashbacks, we see Harry stuck living (unloved) in a cupboard, visiting his mother and father’s grave, and Hagrid finally coming to tell him about his magic on his eleventh birthday. We get to see a loving Lily Potter as she takes her baby son for a walk through Godric’s Hollow. The dramatic irony is tragically strong with this one.

Later, in one of the most emotional moments of the five-hour, two-part play, we witness a conversation between Harry and Dumbledore’s portrait in which Harry is finally given the chance to express his anger at Dumbledore for leaving him to be raised by the Dursley’s, manipulating into being The Chosen One, and for ultimately leaving him behind in death to face it all on his own. The conversation is one seven books in the making, one that Harry and Dumbledore were only partially able to have when they met in purgatorial King’s Cross while Harry was between life and death at the end of The Deathly Hallows.

Harry’s arc in The Cursed Child is his struggle to get past his abusive childhood and the PTSD he still suffers as a result of the terrible events that helped to define his adolescence. Sure, he has made some progress in the 19 years since he graduated from Hogwarts, but another potential rise of Voldemort and, perhaps more importantly, the struggle of being a good parent to Albus, make him face his cursed past more than ever before.

In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Bellatrix Lestrange tells her sister, Narcissa Malfoy: “If I had sons, I would be glad to give them up to the service of the Dark Lord!” Yeah, Bellatrix was kind of a dick. And, yes, J.K. Rowling is so, so good at foreshadowing (if this was, in fact, foreshadowing and not just a lucky throwaway line). In The Cursed Child, we learn that Lord Voldemort and Bellatrix Lestrange had a baby together, a girl who would grow up parent-less and neglected to become the woman we first meet as Delphi Diggory in the play. Delphi is obsessed with knowing her father, so much so that she manipulates Albus and Scorpius into traveling into the past in an effort to meet dear old dad. (No, she doesn’t tell them this is her goal. Yes, they are pretty gullible.) Delphi’s curse is not that she was born to the worst parents in the world, but that she never had a chance to even be loved by them — if they would have even been capable of such love. Instead, she is raised by Rowle family and didn’t seem to have a particularly happy childhood (a la Harry Potter). The climax to the play is heartbreaking because it is clear that, even though Delphi has done terrible things, she has done it all because she just wants to meet her father. In one of the more startling, yet affecting moments in the scene, Harry yells at Delphi: “You are an orphan. Nothing can ever change that.” This is a curse they must both bear.

One of the chief delights of The Cursed Child experience is Scorpius Malfoy, the son of Draco Malfoy and Astoria Greengrass. Scorpius is nothing like you might imagine a Malfoy offspring to be. He is terribly polite, incurably nerdy, and — more than anything — wants to have at least one true friend. He finds this friend in Albus Potter and it makes you wonder if this is the alternative path Harry and Draco’s own relationship could have taken if things had gone differently in Ollivander’s wand shop or on the steps of Hogwarts in their first year. Albus saves Scorpius from this fate. They meet on the Hogwarts Express and become the best of friends, bonding over the fact that they both have legacies they don’t care to be measured against. While Albus is constantly being measured against his father, The Boy Who Lived, and found wanting, Scorpius is plagued by rumors that his true father is not Draco, but rather Lord Voldemort himself. In this way, Scorpius is cursed in some sense of the word, but his true “curse” comes in the loss of his mother, who dies within the first 15 minutes of the play (off-stage, as part of a montage of Albus and Scorpius’ first two years at Hogwarts). In one of the most affecting scenes of the play, Scorpius calls Albus out for being so self-involved in his own pain that he cannot even see Scorpius’... When Albus and Scorpius create an alternate timeline with a stolen Time Turner, all Albus can think about is how he still can’t get along with his dad. Scorpius, meanwhile, is quietly devastated that his mother is dead in this timeline, too. It is a sadness he must live with on top of having his own struggles connecting with his father and being separated from his best (and only) friend on top of that. I don’t think Scorpius is a main candidate for The Cursed Child, if we are forced to pick just one, but his cursed-ness is present, nonetheless. Inevitably, however, it is what he has and receives from both his father and his best friend that keeps him from being truly cursed.

At one point in The Cursed Child, Draco Malfoy extolls a major theme of the play in dialogue form, saying: “People say being a parent is the hardest job. They’re wrong. Growing up is. They forget.” If any one character encapsulates this theme more than any other, it is Albus Potter because, in so many ways, he is the least cursed of this bunch. In fact, he has had a relatively blessed childhood. Sure, he has trouble communicating with his dad, but he is safe and he is loved and he has never truly had to deal with loss. In many ways, Albus acts as a counter to all of those characters who have been truly cursed by loss. This means he has the potential to come off as kind of an entitled brat, complaining about his terrible lot in life. But The Cursed Child, like the other Harry Potter installments, has an enormous amount of empathy for all of its characters. In one memorable scene, Harry asks Portrait Dumbledore: “I never asked you how you felt about my naming [Albus] after you.” Dumbledore tells him: “Candidly, Harry, it’s an awful lot of pressure.” Futhermore, the fact that Albus has such a hard time in this play tells you everything you need to know about Rowling, Thorne, and director John Tiffany’s feelings on the struggles of growing up. You don’t have to be dealt a particularly tough hand for adolescents — and life, in general — to be hard. This is the universality of the Harry Potter universe. At another point, Draco confesses to Harry that he was always envious of his friendships with Ron and Hermione. They had one another. Draco, on the other hand, was unbearably lonely. Ginny, who had what was perhaps the best family in the entire Potter-verse, confesses that she felt the same way. If growing up is difficult, then there are so many ways to be cursed in that necessary struggle. Even when you have a loving family.

So Who Is the Cursed Child?

Ultimately, I don’t think The Cursed Child wants us to come away with a clear answer for this one — or, rather, perhaps it wants us all to have a different one for ourselves. The Cursed Child has so many entry points for audience members. Perhaps you relate best to the parent struggling to connect with their child? Or the child mourning the loss of a parent they never knew? Or the teen trying to understand their place in the world? If forced to chose, my Cursed Child would be Harry Potter himself, though I would entertain an argument for Delphi. If Harry is the Cursed Child, then this play is a hopeful narrative that all that can be overcome in the presence of love — even when so much pain, loss, and abuse has been suffered. If Harry is the Cursed Child, then even Delphi has hope.

The most famous wizard in the world is back - at midnight on July 31, the sale of a new book about Harry Potter began. The eighth part of the famous series of novels by British writer JK Rowling is called "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" ("Harry Potter and the Cursed Child"). The book came out the day after the play of the same name, which premiered at the Palace Theater London.

For the first time, a new story about a wizard with round glasses has been published in an unusual format - in the form of a play. The sequel to "Potteriana" was co-written with playwright and screenwriter Jack Thorne and director John Tiffany. Initially, only a play was planned, but then Rowling received a large number of letters from disappointed fans asking them to release a printed version of the play.

On the occasion of the premiere, themed costume parties were held in bookstores in the UK. Potter fans in Germany will have to wait: the German version of the new book will not be released until September 24 this year. In Russian, "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" will be on sale in November, and the English edition can be purchased this week.

Wizard's Adulthood

The action of the play "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" takes place 19 years after the Battle of Hogwarts, described at the end of the seventh Rowling novel. In the new book, the wizard is presented in an unexpected role: he is married to Ginny Weasley, has three children and works in the Ministry of Magic.

The story begins with a dialogue between Harry and his youngest son, Albus Severus, who is about to go to Hogwarts for the first time. The son is very nervous about the house selection: he is afraid that the sorting hat will send him to Slytherin.

Faculties in the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry perform a special function, they become the second family for the student. Throughout the novel, Albus will struggle with his father's glory, and Harry himself with the burden of the past. That is why the aspiring magician makes friends with Scorpius Malfoy, the son of Harry Potter's worst enemy. Both children suffer from the fame of their parents.

The plot captures from the first scene and carries the reader through the first four years of Albus at Hogwarts. At the same time, the reader does not have enough time to understand the characters. Due to the unusual form of the work, built on theatrical dialogues, events develop at a rapid pace. Perhaps the audience of the performance was more fortunate, and they can get to know the new heroes of the magical story better. Either way, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a real treasure for Rowling fans.

World famous

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the seventh Harry Potter book, went on sale in 2007. In December 2014, the writer also published a series of short stories set in the world of Harry Potter as a Christmas present for her fans. The first novel in the Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone series was published on June 19.97 years.

The series has gained immense popularity and is commercially successful all over the world. The novels have been translated into 78 languages. In total, over 450 million copies of the Harry Potter and Friends books have been sold.

The American magazine Forbes included Rowling in 2004 in its ranking of dollar billionaires. Rowling wrote her first novel while unemployed. She has earned a billion US dollars from her books. Film adaptations of the Harry Potter adventures also brought in record revenues, with a total of $7 billion at the box office.

It would seem that life is well-established and there is nothing that could overshadow existence, but Albus, who arrived on vacation, becomes a witness to a personal tragedy. Amos Diggory comes to the Potter house to ask Harry for a favor.

Amos asks Potter to turn back time with a time-turner. The old man all these years lived with thoughts about his son Cedric, who died at the Triwizard Tournament. Harry refuses, and when an angry Amos leaves his house, Albus decides to stand up for him. A skirmish arises between father and son, and then Albus intends to do a good deed.

He steals the flywheel and travels through time with Scorpius. Such turns of events that the main characters will experience are not imagined by any fan of the Harry Potter film franchise. It would seem that it is only necessary to bring Cedric back to life, but instead the guys ruin their destinies.

Now their main task is to return to their world. Since the flywheel is not quite working, the guys distort reality more and more, and it seems that there are no more familiar things. Albus makes more and more mistakes, but he is the son of a famous father, and everyone had high hopes for him ...

Interesting facts

In the 2016 production, Hermione was played by a black actress. Then it caused a huge outcry and many fans accused JK Rowling of allowing this. Indeed, in previous books, Hermione mentioned her European origin. Rowling commented on this on Twitter, accusing readers of racism.
Harry Potter is unlikely to be played by Daniel Radcliffe, as the actor has decided to move on in his career, accepting various interesting offers from directors. Emma Watson is also busy with other projects and her participation in the Cursed Child is also unlikely. But Rupert Green in his interviews admitted that he would have taken part in the series again with great pleasure.
The original idea was to take the child actors that the audience saw in the last part of the Deathly Hallows. But the project was postponed, and the actors grew up so much that it is no longer possible to pass them off as children.
There is a possibility that the familiar Hermione, even in the film, will be dark-skinned. Joan Rowling insisted on this moment very much, but it is not yet known whether her wishes will be taken into account.
Most of the crew members are ready to take part in the film again. Over the years that the first 8 parts were filmed, everyone managed to make friends, and some of them work together to this day.
