School Excuses for Absence Notes
If your child has been absent from school, you may be asked to provide a note explaining the absence. Here are some common school excuses for absence notes:
- Illness: This is probably the most common excuse for absence, and schools usually accept it. If your child has a fever, diarrhea, or vomiting, it is best to keep them at home. If your child is too sick to attend school, a note from a doctor or nurse may be required.
- Doctor Appointment: If your child has a routine or emergency doctor appointment, you may need to provide a note from the doctor or dentist to excuse your child’s absence from school.
- Family Emergency: If there is a death or serious illness in the family or another family event, your teacher will understand. A note from a parent or guardian explaining the situation may be required.
- Field Trip: If your child has a planned vacation or field trip, you can write a note excusing them from school. Be sure to include the travel dates, where your child will be going, and why they will be absent.

School. Do you need to call to report an illness?

My 3rd grader's class teacher called today and counted me out on the first day because I didn't call her a second time that my son was sick, and she herself had to call me. I was mumbling that today I was going to call later, and last time I told his classmate that he was sick, to which the answer was “classmate is not mom”, tomorrow she calls me to talk. Am I required to report my son's absence from school? I really don't know, in my time I was playing truant without any warnings and notes from my parents.

And what if the teacher does not give her phone numbers and there is no way to contact her? When I come to school, they often don’t let me in at all, and it’s impossible to go on a weekday in the first half of the day (it’s already gone in the afternoon). No contacts. And he also swears and demands at the meeting that everyone should tell about the illness. I tried to send a message through the Electronic Diary, where we receive assignments, but the next time they blocked this case (my messages).

the school has a telephone where either the secretary or security answers, through them you can transfer any information to the teacher.

No. you can’t convey anything there, we study at this school, my child. And every time it’s impossible to convey anything to anyone - everyone there doesn’t care.

In such cases, the guards call and report that Vasya Petrov from 2"B" fell ill. The guard informs the teacher. And in your case, after her requirements, you had to immediately be interested in how to do this and what methods of communication she offers, since she does not give her phone number.

Surely, the teacher is responsible for the child during school hours, what if you brought him to the gate, but he did not enter the school, but turned and something happened to him

Our procedure is as follows: it is obligatory to call if the parents are going to miss a day without an official note, or they are corny late. If everything is according to the law - a call to the pediatrician in the clinic is issued, then just a few days later we come with a supporting document. And in my Soviet childhood it was like that.

We definitely warn the teacher that we won't come. This is done in any case, whether we missed a day or got sick, and there will be help. If I know in advance that the child will not come, I write a note.

It is necessary to warn. There is a secretariat, there is an office, there is security, there is a head teacher of junior classes. We always called the teacher, there were never any problems with this - the phones were all announced at the parent meeting.

In our school, every morning, the class teacher checks the presence of children before the first lesson. And if someone is not there, and her parents did not warn her - by call or SMS - this is a reason to raise the alarm. We were officially warned, either call the class teacher, or send her an SMS, the option is to call the secretariat or the head teacher of the secondary school - her phone is also there. The possibility of reporting through an electronic diary is also being considered. PS. Then the son forgot his phone at home, went to school. I was sitting with a cat in the clinic under a dropper, my son does not call - I started to twitch - whether I got there or not, after all, there are two types of transport. I called after the first classroom lesson - she reassured me, she says, if she hadn't come - you would have known hours ago already.
Marsha C.B.

And we inform our teacher about illness or missed classes through an electronic diary. The teacher must answer us. And in general, on all issues, we communicate with the teacher. Very comfortably.

- How to write an explanatory note to a teacher at school
What to do if your child gets sick or, for example, you just decide to spend more time together - go to an amusement park with your family. In order to avoid unnecessary problems with the school management, it is necessary to write an explanatory note to the school. This makes it possible to inform teachers that the child will not appear, that he is not walking somewhere, but is safe with his parents. But how to do that? Like any document, an explanatory note must be drawn up according to the model established by the school your child goes to.
Before writing an explanatory note, you should go to the school website (if any) and find a design template. If the site, or this item is not there, then follow the recommendations below.
The explanatory note is always written on a clean, flat sheet of A4 format, in most cases by hand. Since this is an official document, the language of presentation is business-like. The meaning of what is written should be clear to the teacher; write strictly to the point, without unnecessary words.
The note should be drawn up as follows:
- In the upper right corner, you must indicate the name of the director (less often the name of the class teacher in the dative case) and the name of the educational institution. Below you need to write the name of the parent (from whom the document was submitted). This is the "header" of the document.
- Further, under the “cap” in the middle, “explanatory note” or “statement” is written.
- Then, in the main part of the explanatory note, it is necessary to briefly state the reason for the child's absence from school. Usually, the reason is given as "due to illness" or "family reasons".
- Below on the left is the date of the note, signature and initials.
In the case of skipping school for health reasons, it will be enough to indicate in the explanatory note that the child did not come because of poor health. If desired, you can specify the cause of the ailment, for example, "temperature" or "poisoning". However, in most educational institutions, this document is valid when the child missed only one day. If there are health problems, it is strongly recommended to consult a doctor so that after the course of treatment the child provides a certificate from the hospital at school.
If you want to remove a child from attending a physical education lesson, a simple explanatory note will not be an excuse. In this case, you need to provide the teacher with a certificate from the pediatrician, which will indicate the reason why the child should not attend physical activity classes.
When a child has to leave school before the end of the lessons, the parent needs to take care of compiling a note in advance. An explanatory note of this nature should contain a specific reason why the teacher should release the child ahead of time. For example, "doctor's appointment" or "limited public transport schedule." In this case, the manager will be sure that the reason is really good. It will not be superfluous to make a promise to the teacher that the child will get acquainted with the missing material on his own. Remember that the teacher does not have the right to dismiss the children from the lesson without an official reason. An explanatory note must be written, as this will be the only document according to which the teacher will be able to release the child.
Many schools require children to complete summer internships after the end of the school year.
