How to get a child focused in sims 4
WHIZ KID - MENTAL ASPIRATION
The Sims 4 Whiz Kid Childhood Aspiration
Requirements and tips on helping kids achieve an "A" in school.
"Whiz Kid" is one of four childhood aspirations for The Sims 4. This aspiration is intended to help sim kids build their mental skill in preparation for building mental skills as adults. It is therefore recommended that you select the "Whiz Kid" aspiration for all children you wish to have grow into careers requiring the "focused" emotion for advancement. Kids who complete the "Whiz Kid" aspiration will gain an additional trait (as with sims who complete their aspirations) for having done so. The reward trait ("Mentally Gifted") will allow sims with this trait to develop their mental skills more quickly (which is helpful for aspirations and careers requiring the development of these skills).
Childhood aspirations have three tiers, as opposed to the adult aspirations with four tiers. In order to move forward through each, your sim will have to complete certain tasks. In order to fulfill the aspiration, each of these tasks must be completed.
These appear relatively simple, but players sometimes become "stuck" at each of these levels when they can't figure out how to progress with their sim child. Once you know how it's played, this aspiration is quick and easy to accomplish. My child sim took only one week to get it done (from Monday to Sunday).
Becoming Precocious
Play 3 Games of Chess: This seems relatively easy, but note that each game must be played with another sim. In order for the game to count, the sim child must play chess with someone else. This can be accomplished at home, at public venues or at friends' homes. You may choose to play three games with the same sim, or mix it up to help other sims build their mental or logic skills. (Note that once the mental skill has been maxed, sim children can play chess to gain logic skill!)
Read with an Adult for Two Hours: First of all, in this case the adult has to read to the child, and the adult must initiate the interaction with a book and not with the child. This has caused some confusion. It can only be done with children's books, so pull a children's book off the shelf and, with the adult selected, click the book and select "read to child." You can then choose a child or children from the pop up in order to read to the child. You'll have to do this a minimum of three times in order to complete the two hour requirement.
The Junior Scientist
Achieve Level 5 Mental Skill: Chances are that you've already gotten to this point by now, but if you haven't, the easiest way to build mental skill is to have your child sim play chess. This builds fun as well as mental skill and so it works well as a way to end the day coming back from a boring day at school (and homework). You will build mental skill faster in a focused mood. I recommend having your sim read Honing the Mind's Eye in order to achieve a focused emotion.
Finish Homework 2 Times while Focused: If you can get your sim focused by reading one of the emotion books, that will do, but another way to accomplish this is to have an adult click on your child sim while he's doing his home work and select "help with home work. " This will put your child in a focused mood and your adult in a confident mood. You'll have to do this on two separate days, since you can only do homework once a day until you have an A Grade in school.
Whiz Kid Accomplished!
Achieve a Grade of A in School: This one's self-explanatory, and I've included some tips on how to accomplish this below.
Craft 3 Emotion Potions: You'll need the chemistry set for this, and a high enough Mental skill in order to craft the emotion potions. I usually do this as the very last thing, since it requires a Mental Skill level of 7, and by the end I have a ten. Doing it this way makes it a lot easier for me.
Achieve Level 10 Mental Skill: The chess table is the easiest way to get this skill all the way to the top. Make sure that your sim is focused when playing chess and it will make this process go by much more quickly!
Making the Grade
Getting a grade of "A" in school can be difficult. Some simmers report their sims coming home with an increased grade the day after starting school, but this hasn't been my experience. For me, it takes about three days to go from a "C" to a "B" and then another two days to get to an "A".
As with careers, school has requirements that you must meet in order to raise your grade.
The first, and probably the most important, part of making the grade is to do your homework. Each sim child or teen will come home with homework every night from school. Get an adult to help the child with his home work. This makes all the difference in the world, because it shortens the amount of time it takes to get the homework done (and then allows you to pursue other interests).
Do the home work every single day. Don't neglect it. Set out time to get it done and work it into the routine. Sending your sim off to school without it done can mean a wasted school day where the bar doesn't move at all!
The second component is the "requirement" for the next grade. In order to receive an "A", your sim will need to have reached a level 4 in any skill. If you've been working on the other requirements for their aspiration, you'll get to that point before you reach the "B" grade (so don't worry too much about it).
Your third requirement is the emotion that boosts your work performance. In the case of school, a "Focused" emotion is going to give you the greatest boost to performance. It's also one of the more difficult to achieve emotions, and it doesn't always stick. For child sims, the best way you can get the "Focused" emotion for your sims is to use one of the emotion books. I like Honing Your Mind's Eye. Purchase it from the book shelf and have your sim read it about an hour before school. It provides a four hour boost to the "Focused" emotion.
How to Get Focused in Sims 4
Sims, just like us, experience different emotions. Focused is arguably the most useful emotion as it boosts Sim’s overall productivity rather than offering more social interactions. Focused boosts the speed of building skills like Programming or Logic. So let’s find out how to get Focused in Sims 4.
Benefits of Focused
As we already mentioned, Focused focuses (nice) on building skills. Those can be simple skills like Video Gaming or career-related skills and progression. These are the skills Focused mood will boost:
- Programming
- Viedo Gaming
- Logic
- Handiness
- Fishing
- Gardening
And these are the careers Focused mood will help:
- Astronaut
- Tech Guru
- Criminal
- Secret Agent
- Business
Apart from all that, Focused will assist kids and teenagers when they go to school to study and do their homework.
Activities to Get “Focused” Emotion
First and foremost, your Sim needs to be Happy to get the Focused emotion. Ways to get happy can depend on your Sim and is a whole different emotion to discuss here. So we will leave that to you. My Sim has a Lone Wolf trait that makes him happy whenever he is alone. And since most of the skills can be built at home it’s as easy as locking the door to get into the mood for work.
To actually get focused there are many activities to do. Some of them are available only in expansion packs so we grouped them accordingly for an easy read. There are most likely more activities than listed but these are the general ones to get you started.

A Sim with Focused emotion can progress to being Very Focused. The very version of any emotion upgrades the effect of the regular one. To enter a Very Focused state your Sim will need to have a mixture of +8 emotions with at least some of them being focused. If some of them are focused there will be a certain chance of getting into a very focused state. However, if all of +8 emotions are focused, very focused is guaranteed.
Focused Traits
When creating your Sim you can choose the Genius trait that is perfect for increasing the amount of time your Sim will be in the Focused mood. The Genius trait makes Sims randomly become Focused for a few hours. With that, it will become even easier to advance to the Very Focused mood.
Focused Aura Items and Decorations
When decorating a room you can add specific items that will make sure that your Sim stays in the right mood. Decorations generate aura within the room they are placed. The aura of an item is going to work for 8 squares around the object as long as it’s in the same room. In this case, it’s best to build an office or a study room for your Sim to work on their skills.
- Masterpiece Pumpkins
- Elements
- Mathematical Diagrams (Masterpiece)
- Reward Lamps (Into the Future and University)
- Telescope prints
- Microscope Prints
- Space prints
- Saffron Incense +1 for duration (Spa Day)
- Clay in the Grid and Geometric shapes

Tips for The Sims 4 - how to take better pictures of your Sims
**14/04/2016 Jonathan Richardson
Smile!
Do you take screenshots when you play The Sims 4? Do you like how they turn out? It's okay if they don't always work! To take a good picture, simply pressing the PrtScr button is not enough. When we take screenshots of The Sims 4 for the website, we spend quite a bit of time trying to account for everything from story to composition to lighting.
If you want to make your screenshots from The Sims 4 even better, check out these tips to help you!
Select a scene. What will be the centerpiece of your shot? What story do you want to tell? Whether it's your funny sim or a hilarious animation, choose a story and focus on its central object. For this exercise, I want to show how my Sim cooks.
TIP: If your subject is a building or lot, include adjacent lots with Sims as well to give the shot some momentum.
Wait for the right moment. Perhaps this is the most important piece of advice. Find the exact moment you want to capture and build your story around it. Perform the action several times to understand the animation. Pause the game to look at the various compositions in more detail and from different angles until you find the right moment. Ready!
Define the position for the camera. Find perfect position for the camera. Luckily, you can use a variety of hotkeys to control the camera, which will make things easier. Here are a few options to get you started:
- • [tab] - Free Camera Mode
- • [w, a, s, d, q, e] - Move Camera
- • [z and x] - Zoom
- • [ctrl] + [5, 6, 7, 8 or 9] - save camera position
- • [5, 6, 7, 8 or 9] - restore saved position
- • [c] - create and save a snapshot
TIP: Search the Internet for "basic photography composition" for some good tricks.
Don't forget to consider the time of day. Whether you're outside or in a windowless room, the time of day affects more than just the lighting in your shot. A shadow can add texture to the area outside of the site. The sun in the early morning can play beautifully on the carpet in your living room. And, most importantly, the time of day can add context to your story.
Add a variety of interior items. Here the most important details. Interior items will add a sense of habitation and connection between the room and its owners.
TIP: remember this is a photo, not a garage sale. Simplify the shot so that it doesn't detract from the key subject.
Light up the Sims. Are you ready? Forced by the right items? Are Sims in the correct position? Well, it's time for lighting. The key subject of my shot is the sim. Therefore, I need to first light it and only then do the lighting of the rest of the objects in the composition. Try not to think about lighting the room, but rather think about where you want to draw attention. When there is too much light in the picture, the composition loses depth and becomes flat and evenly lit.
TIP: The " Claudine" floor lamp is perfect for lighting up Sims and doesn't affect the lighting of other items in the composition.
Add the finishing touches. Adjust the lighting, colors and position of objects. Consider using bubbles to show Sims' thoughts. The Internet community has a whole collection of such clouds.
TIP: It's best to raise the walls when taking a picture.
That's it! Use our tips and you will soon be able to take amazing pictures of your Sims.

Babies in The Sims 4. Newborn Sims in The Sims 4 and school age kids. Large overview article
Children in The Sims 4 are important characters. Starting from childhood, you can develop skills , so that later you can get an almost perfect sim. So, you've decided that it's time for a child to appear in the family of characters? What you need to know about kids in The Sims 4
If you wish , you can adopt a child (newborn, toddler or primary school age). Moreover, there will be no information about the children that your wards can adopt, except for the name and icon of the child.
To adopt a child, your Sims will have to pay 1000 Simoleons to . In addition, adoption is possible only through computer (menu " Family " > " Adopt "), that is, your family must be sufficiently well off to afford at least the simplest computer.
Adoption proceeds as follows: your ward leaves the precinct, and after a while returns with a child (for whom you can choose a new name) and with a positive moodlet (" Ready baby ", Happiness +3, 24 hours). If you adopted a newborn, then when the Sim returns, the baby will be on your site already in a bed. his older brothers or sisters may even get upset or get angry . parents a baby is born.It should be noted that with the release of The Sims 4 Get to Work add-ons , with which aliens appeared in the game , not only female Sims, but also male Sims can give birth to a child. But this will be the topic of our next review. Now consider the usual version of the birth of a child.
Your Sim can have a baby at home or in the hospital .
Note that the opportunity for to go to clinic was also given to us by The Sims 4 Get to Work!
In The Sims 4, you can be present at the birth of your baby in the hospital. Expectant mother can choose with whom to go to clinic when the time is right.
It is interesting to watch how the future dad calmly goes into the refrigerator for hospital food, communicates with other characters, and at another moment starts to panic , realizing that an important moment is happening in his life.
A baby sim is born with a crib attached to it. So you don’t even need to spend money on this furniture.
In addition to the crib, the newborn receives birth certificate stating that he is a human, if the baby is indeed a human sim and not an alien.
When your wards return home, friends of the happy parents (" New Baby! " moodlet, Happiness +3, 2 days) will vied with each other to congratulate your Sims on their newborn.
You will not be able to interact with the baby by clicking on him directly, all actions are carried out through the crib .
Parents have plenty available interactions with an infant .
Whereas children (of primary school age) can only coo and talk to the newborn.
Adults can talk to the baby, coo, caress, rock, cradle (so that the baby falls asleep faster), even brag about the baby, showing it to other characters.
The child does not always respond positively to interactions, for example, he may not like the faces that his parents make, and he will also be unhappy if his parents overfeed him.
Feeding baby is another feature of The Sims 4. If mom wants to do it, then you can decide how she will feed him, with a bottle or not.
An adopted child can only be bottle fed.
It should be noted that we can't see the baby's needs panel, so we have to guess the baby's need reduction based on his crying, as well as the background color change of the character icon from green to blue.
The baby cries if he is hungry, or he needs to be swaddled or just to talk to the baby.
For many, a happy event was the appearance of a nanny in the game (after update 1.21.32.1020 (PC) / 1.21.32.1220 (Mac) (from 07/14/16)). You can hire a babysitter using the phone (" Career/Family " > " Order service") or select the appropriate action on the baby's bed.
However, if your Sims can leave the lot without calling the babysitter, then the baby will go to Nursery School and return from it when the parents are home.
Kindergarten, unlike babysitting services, is free of charge.
It's worth noting that The Sims 4 does not have a so-called "slider" age. That is, unlike Sims 3, you will not have the opportunity to teach your child to walk and talk, and there will be no walks with a stroller . But at any time, you can get a younger student from a screaming lump, for whom it is much more interesting to play, for this you just need to select the appropriate option on the crib.
Or you can wait until the baby grows up on its own, especially since you have to wait no longer than three days.
With update 1.26.96.1010 (PC) / 1.26.96.1210 (Mac) dated 01/12/17, a new age category is added to the game BABY (TODLERS) - read the big review of here , about the skills of kids here .
Junior High Schoolers in The Sims 4
When your child reaches age Junior High School ("child"), you will be able to choose one of four Childhood Aspirations and one Trait .
Children can upgrade four skills : motor skills , communication , intellect and creativity . Depending on the aspiration of the child, you need to focus on one of them, although every skill in the life of a Sim will come in handy, and try to pump them as much as possible. Having mastered children's skills, the child can begin to learn adult skills.
The Sims 4 Motor Skill
A child's motor skills can be learned in several ways. The easiest way is to seat the child at the computer so that he practices typing .
There are many more ways to improve motor skills, such as swim in the pool (Pools were added to the game with update 1.2.16.10 (dated 11/04/14)) or carve a pumpkin head (requires catalog "The Sims 4 Creepy things" ).
If you and your family go on vacation , have your child play with horseshoes (requires The Sims 4 Hiking Playset ).
If the family budget allows and there is enough space on the site, place gymnastic complex , pirate ship or playground for a child. In order not to spend money, you can also find them in public areas (for example, in a park).
By the way, in the same place your child will be able to communicate with his peers, and this is pumping and communication skills.
The Sims 4 Communication Skill
Talk to your child often! Children enjoy contact with their parents.
They easily get to know their peers and adult Sims, so the communication skill can be pumped almost imperceptibly.
Already at skill level 1, children can talk to large plush toys , developing the skill and becoming their friends.
There is a children's forum where your little character can also develop communication skills.
Performances in puppet theater (requires "The Sims 4 Kids Room" catalog ) also contribute to skill development.
The Sims 4 Intelligence Skill
Your junior high school student's Intelligence Skill determines how well they perform. In order to develop this skill was interesting, get him children's laboratory table (scientific set "Young wizard"). And you will see with what pleasure your child conducts experiments and prepares potions (starting from skill level 4).
In addition, the child can develop intelligence skills by playing chess and card games or fishermen .
In order for a child to do homework without reminders and quickly, intelligence must be above level 4.
Creativity skill in The Sims 4
If you want your Sim to be creative in their adult life, then this skill must be pumped from childhood.
Playing with all kinds of toys, whether it's a dollhouse, small figurines from a toy box, a large soft toy, develops creativity.
Develops skill and playing musical instruments . The child can play the piano and children's violin.
A on special craft table ("Creativity") the child draws funny pictures. With each skill level, the pictures become more interesting.
Parents can encourage children's drawing , thereby inspire (inspire) their child.
Like adult characters, children in the inspired state increase the creativity skill faster to enter this state, the child can play with a large plush toy, a dollhouse (inspiration comes at skill level 5), sculpt with clay, tell someone some fictional story or just dreaming (available at skill level 4).
How to raise an A student in The Sims 4
In the game, as in life, to get good grades in school , you cannot skip it.
