{A little prayer for when the days seem far from holy and the nights are far from silent. And it no longer feels like the “hap-happiest season of all.”}
Father God, we admit that we’ve lost our way.
Somehow this season has become something to survive rather than savor.
In the hustle and bustle, our eyes have turned from You to all the to-dos, the to-buys, and all the should-be-doings.
We’ve welcomed in the shallow rather than soaking in the sacred.
We’ve allowed our busyness to turn into burdens.
We’ve become distracted by the lights and noise instead of dazzled by the glorious GIFT.
The babe. The birth. The beginning of it all.
Lord, we want to be women of intention. Bring us back to You. To Your heart.
May we dwell on Your goodness as we draw near to You.
May our hearts and minds be focused on You. And You alone.
Open our eyes to the wonder. The hope. The amazing love.
And as we go through this season, as we ponder its significance (for us and for the world), help our eyes remain fixed on You —
Remembering Your faithfulness and resting in Your promises.
Trusting that You will complete the work You have started.
For Your ways are sweet. And Your Word is true. Guide us to rest in Your graciousness toward us.
Thank You for sending the greatest gift of all: Jesus, the Savior of the world. The King of Kings. And the Lord of Lords. The reason we celebrate.
It’s in His precious name we pray, Amen.
